𝑬𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒔-A short Play

Act II Scene 1

(BAIRRFHION and VELACHKANOR are the only ones on stage, it is still set up the same, and the lights have a blueish tone, and BAIRRFHION still has tears) (soft forest ambiance starts up again with a hint of quiet sad music)

BAIRRFHION: Are you alright?

VALECHKANOR: (turns to look into his eyes) I think I need to ask if you're alright

BAIRRFHION: (moves closer to her) Don't worry I'm fine, I'm worried about you

VALECHKANOR: I know you are but (wipes a tear from his face) I'm worried about you too, and well larmoj

BAIRRFHION: (quickly wipes the tears from his eyes) It's complicated

VALECHKANOR: (backs away from their closeness) Oh,

BAIRRFHION: Oh, no, I didn't mean it like I'm locking you out. (reaches for VALECHKANOR'S hand)

VALECHKANOR: I care about you, I deeply do (she retraces her steps and come close to BAIRRFHION and places her hand on his face)

BAIRRFHION: Please don't worry, that, the negativity has already passed with the wind

VALECHKANOR: (shaking her head) It makes no sense but it was almost like I knew her, not as familiar as I've seen her before but this quick feeling when I saw her like I knew her, KNEW her. And that name Yevesmeralda, whoever she kept mentioning, it sounds vastly familiar.

BAIRRFHION: It's not silly, but are you really alright? (staring into her eyes)

VALECHKANOR: (sadly) Yes, but I just feel so bad for her, whatever she went through-

BAIRRFHION: It is, and you would have liked her, you would have liked both of them but it's something that can't be reversed, she went through something that really hurt her, and well pain affects people in different ways.

(JESLAPHINE and TERESLIN come running out stage in a huff behind them)

(Once JESLAPHINE runs and stage suspense music begins)

JESLAPHINE: (pointing at them and yelling) There they are!!

VALECHKANOR: (starled, jumps) Ummm Bairrfhion(tugging on his arm)

BAIRRFHION: Should we run?

VALECHKANOR: (shakes her head and walks forwards) Is something wrong?

TERESLIN: (worried expression) Valechkanor you need to come home now, (reaching her arm out) I should have been more careful and asked who you spend your days with

VALECHKANOR: What are you talking about?

TERESLIN: (still trying to get her to come) I can't let you make the power thirsty mistakes you made before

VALECHKANOR: I'm confused

BAIRRFHION: You should go---

JESLAPHINE: (screaming at BAIRRFHION interrupting him) You don't speak!

VALECHKANOR: (let's go of BAIRRFHION'S HAND and steps forwards in the middle of everyone) I want to go, but I don't understand---

TERSLIN: (still reaching her hand out towards VALECHKANOR) Understand what dear?

VALECHKANOR: (emotional, realizing, finally telling the truth, she can start crying during this) I don't understand, I'm not a kid, none of us are, yet all of you treat me like one, I just want to know the truth. You think I don't see it, you think I haven't noticed, the staring and the watching, the covering up certain topics, and the way all of you all have some kind of hidden backstory. The day that's coming up where everyone seems so sad and troubled and no one explains why, it's the constantly sneaking around, making sure of what I'm doing, the way all of you leave me clueless, and.... lie (turns to BAIRRFHION) so yes, I don't understand any of it. I've caught on to these things for years, and I just can't find a solution, I want to know why I'm constantly being treated like I don't have a clue in the world, why you treat me like the stars hidden by the sun. You hide me with all these lies, and cover-ups, and just leave me there in the sky when you sleep, and I'm just there wandering, lost and confused, wondering what could be so terrible that everyone treats me like this! And what you all don't get is that yes your lies are the sun and the clouds hiding the stars, hiding the truth, but they aren't hidden at night, only by clouds, and so I go on to say that like the truth, it can't be hidden, it's wrong, it's just like the sun of this planet, like the three moons, they can't be hidden, not for long that is, and you need to know that someday I am going to find out, sooner or later my dying curiosity will be over, and this pandemonium, all this equivocate, it needs to stop (breaking down, like a complete emotional breakdown, on her knees crying) I just wish it would stop

(EVERYONE is staring at her not knowing what to do)

(TERESLIN goes to speak but BAIRRFHION makes it first)

BAIRRFHION: (walks over to her and puts his hand on her back) V, it's ok--

VALECHKANOR: (pain in her voice, still crying) How can it be, when what Jeslaphine said was probably true, that I hurt her so bad, that she is like that, and you've done nothing but lie?! How can it be ok when I don't remember a single thing about the past, about anyone, I don't even remember anything from my childhood!?

BAIRRFHION: (reaches out his hand) Because no more lies, I promise

VALECHKNAOR: How can I know to trust you?

BAIRRFHION: (he grabs VALECHKANOR'S hand and pull her up) Because why I lied, why I went along with this all along, V, it's because I love you, I love you so much that I can bear to see you hurt, but I guess that didn't work because you are, because you trusted me and I betrayed you because I couldn't sacrifice enough because I can't bear to let you go (VALECHKANOR and BAIRRFHION embrace in a tight hug)

VALECHKANOR: (whispers but loud enough to hear as her and BAIRRFHION as they are still hugging) I love you forevermore

(lights fade out)
