•We were fine. No matter what happens, we'll always be fine•

I swung my backpack over my shoulder before getting up just after Luke and Derek. It was late in the evening now after an whole afternoon of finishing up my pending assignments and projects.

"Guys, I'm hungry. Who's cooking tonight?" Derek walked beside me, his arms folded behind his head.

"You have the money, why don't you just order?" Luke suggested.

Derek groaned. "Nah, I'm in the mood for some homemade food." He turned to me. "Cole, can't you just ask your girlfriend to cook for us?"

I shot him a dry look. "Cook you own food."

"Asshole, you know I don't know how to cook."

"Then learn." I said looking at him in disbelief.

"What's the point of having a girlfriend if she doesn't cook for you." He muttered under his breath, hands stuffed into his pockets.

"And that's why you're still single."

"Uh no. I'm single because I want to be, bachelor for life remember."

I laughed lightly, shaking my head. "It's a sad life you live."

He huffed, cursing me under his breath.

A hand tapped me on my shoulder causing me to turn around. My eyes involuntarily widened in surprise before morphing into a look of indifference.

"Cole! Oh my God, it's been so long. You don't return my calls or my texts, what's up?"

I suppressed the groan threatening to make its way out of my mouth. Her voice was still as high pitched and whiney as ever, questions on how I ever took interest in her in the first place popped up.

"Hey Maya. Looking good as always." I said in hopes of sounding polite and hoped she didn't pick up my underlying sarcasm.

She didn't pick it up alright, judging by the pink ting appearing on her cheeks. "Oh stop it." She giggled, her arms brushing my shoulder lightly.

"Maya!! Damn, you look hot."

I sent Derek a bone chilling glare that said to shut the hell up and not give her a reason to stay here.

"It's great to see you too Derek and Logan's here too... Great."

Luke frowned for a split second but it quickly disappeared and was replaced by a soft smile. "It's Luke action and it's good to see you too Maya."

She ignored him turning to me but before she could speak I interrupted her.

"Why don't you guys go on without me. I'll see you at home."

Luke looked between me and Maya, raising his eyebrow in question. Are you sure that's a good idea, was what the look said. I smiled, reassuring him that I would be fine. He shrugged before walking away Derek following beside him snickering as he walked away. Douche!

"What do you want Maya?" I said with a fake smile on my face. I really didn't want to do this so rather than waste time, I'll rather just skip the formalities and jump straight into it.

"Really? Just Maya? What happened to Maya bear." She pouted, her hands reaching out to the side of my face tracing the finger over it.

I inwardly cringed at the stupid nickname I called her whenever I was drunk. "Yeah..." I pulled her hand off my face holding it down before letting go. "About that, I_"

"Don't tell me..." She frowned, looking at me like she was trying to figure it if I was the right person. "It's not true is it?"

"Is what true?" I was genuinely confused.
