Prologue

Thank you for your last letter. I'm okay here, but it's difficult not having Caspian around. He's been gone for almost four months now, off negotiating with giants I think, and he doesn't know when he'll be back. When he told me he wanted to travel and bring peace to Narnia, I hoped that I would be part of it. Is that selfish? I am proud of him and grateful that he appointed me the envoy between Narnia and Telmar, but I'm neither Narnian nor Telmarine.

Caspian has sent me several letters, some even arriving on the same day. I gave up on trying to keep up with them months ago, which makes me feel bad. I knew it wasn't going to be easy, the letters help with that I suppose, regardless it's not the same as if he were really here.

I'm thinking about visiting you and Trumpkin earlier than normal. Maybe stay longer too. Reep said he would deliver this as soon as possible, on one of his patrols, so I don't mind waiting a bit for your response. I don't want to simply show up out of the blue.

I miss you Trufflehunter, Trumpkin too, of course.
