"You know, I was mad before that they kept everything from us when we were on our honeymoon, but now I'm glad they did."

Akash swallowed his bite and asked, "How come?"

"Because there are so many things to deal with right now. At least we got to have a few days of peace." Payal sighed wistfully. "They seem so far away now."

"Don't worry. Peace will come again. Khushi will wake up and we'll catch the maniac behind this."

Payal's repy was interrupted by a text message. She checked it and then jumped to her feet.

Alarmed, Akash followed suit. "What happened?"

"She's awake!"

The two of them rushed out of his office, their lunches forgotten on Akash's desk.

But any excitement that Payal felt disappeared when they arrived at the hospital and saw Arnav outside of Khushi's room, sitting on the ground, head sunk low.

"Bhai, what happened?" Akash asked.

He looked up despondently. "She doesn't want to see me. But you should go in, Payal. I'm sure she'll be happy to see you."

Confused, Payal nodded and went inside. Why didn't Khushi want to see Arnav?

Inside, Khushi's face did indeed light up when she saw Payal.

"Khushi," Payal said gratefully, taking her hand. "You're awake. How are you feeling?"

"How did I get here, Payal? I don't remember anything and the doctors won't tell me."

Payal's heart sank. "Khushi...you were kidnapped."

"When? How?"

"You don't need to know that yet," Lavanya said from the doorway. Dressed sharply in her uniform, she strode into the room, casually sitting on a chair across from Khushi.

Frustrated, Khushi asked, "Why not?"

"Because I want you to remember as much as you can on your own without accidentally feeding you false memories. Start by telling me what you do remember."

"I remember...going to Shantivan together." Khushi's face darkened. "And then he came home and then I left on a Rickshaw...and the Rickshaw, the Rickshaw..."

A blurred image came to mind of trees and running, but Khushi's head pounded as she tried to figure it out.

Payal frowned. "You were at Shantivan. Why?"

"Lavanya told me about Shyam's escape and that she couldn't get into contact with Ar-- Mr. Raizada. So I--I just thought I'd go and check. But of course, Mr. Raizada was alive and well. Congratulations by the way."

"For what?" Payal asked quizzically.

"For your new Bhabi."

Payal was taken aback. Khushi had been unconscious at the time Arnav made the announcement. And also it seemed weird for Khushi to refer to herself in this way.

"How did you know?"

"I was there when they got back from meeting the girl."

"What girl? What are you talking about?"

"You know...yesterday? Or was it earlier today? What's today's date?"

"Never mind that now," Payal said impatiently. "Tell me what you're talking about."

"Don't you know about this? Mr. Raizada and Devyani Ji went to see a girl for his marriage. When we went to Shantivan to find out why he wasn't answering Lavanya's calls, that's where they were." At Payal's aghast face, Khushi asked, "Don't you know about this?"
