all four of them dart forward in the same direction, sprinting into the forest. we immediately start chasing right behind them, swerving around all kinds of trees and rocks in our path. the shadow of leaves only allows the slightest bit of light to hit the animals, meaning all i can see of them is the reflection along their backs and the sharp red glow of the camera light. my jacket gets blown in the wind and i can feel the cool air running out down the sleeves. i grip tighter onto the handles of my bike and rev the engine hoping to gain a bit more speed. I see owen slightly ahead of me as i start to lose sight of the animals so i keep my eyes on him to make sure i don't lose my way, we are way ahead of everyone else and i can faintly hear barry yelling at the trucks to keep up.

as we get further into the forest i get a movement signal on my radar, i look up and notice the raptors start to slow down. "they got something" i hear owen say on the walkie talkie (a/n why does it have to have such a stupid name?) within seconds the group comes to a complete halt and step of our bikes to approach the animals. me, owen and the troops all walk forward with our guns in hand, vigorously scanning our eyes around the area for any signs of the beast. as we get closer to the sound of footsteps we crouch behind a fallen tree in order to stay out of the way. i point my gun into the darkness as we hear the creature approaching us. the stomping slowly gets closer and closer until we see it completely emerge from the canopy. my heart rate starts to quicken and my breath becomes short, i stare intently at the animal, not taking my eyes off it for even a second. we all sit there in silence as it leans towards the raptors, everyone is aimed but waiting for the right time to fire.

the i-rex stands face to face with our animals and starts to somewhat softly growl towards them, indicating some sort of communication between them. blue lets out a high pitched roar in response, and the other raptors join. "somethings wrong" barry says with concern, he continues "they're communicating".
"i know why they wouldn't tell us what it's made of." i hear my brother say
"why?" asks barry in return. owen stays silent as the creature looks directly at him, so i quietly answer for him "that thing's part raptor" at this moment (he realised, he fucked up) (sorry i had to do it) all the raptors suddenly turned to us and stared between me and owen after a few seconds of eye contact i hear hopkins yell through the earpieces "engage!" and just like that, all the troops started firing at the i-rex. someone sets off some sort of small missile towards the animal and it gets thrown back in the flames. it hits the ground with a hard thud. trees start collapsing all around as the creature clambers to its feet and rapidly sprints off. it retreats back into the forest with seemingly very little damage.

without thinking, i step over the log and follow the heavy footsteps it leaves behind. one by one each of the soldiers split up into groups and head in their own direction. me and owen have cameras strapped to our chests so that HQ (and claire) can see what's going on. i trample on the undergrowth as me and owen head further into the forest, blood curdling screams start becoming noticeable in the distance. "you hear it to?" owen whispers to me. "of course, but it can't be the indominus rex, if the screaming is coming from all around then there's only one animal that has that many in it's group..." i pause for a second. "the raptors"

"shit" is all he has to say in reply. at that moment we hear growling coming towards us in the bushes. we immediately point our guns in that direction, charlie's head then pops up out of the branches and we start to slowly lower our guns. she stares at us for a moment and lets out a soft chitter as she tilts her head. for a split second she feels calm, she's no threat to me or my brother. she seems...... a bright light and a whistle heads towards the raptor and a massive explosion of yellow sparks and orange flames goes off as it hits the ground behind her. me and owen get thrown backwards and hit the ground with a painful thud. we look beyond our feel at the fire infront of us, immediately knowing that charlie is gone. "SERIOUSLY GUYS THAT WAS MY ONLY RULE" i yell aimlessly into the trees as i stand up. i stay stationary for a second, not really knowing what to do. owen then yanks me by the arm and starts to pull me away from the blaze. we run in the other direction and head towards where we left our bikes.

i grab the handle bars and swing my leg over the seat and then sit down "you go back to the road i'm gonna go and help barry, i heard him yelling a second ago" owen tells me. i don't question it and just start up the bike. flip the switch, turn on the gas, twist the handles then press down on the kick starter. i begin steer back towards the raptor enclosure to check on zach and gray, i know they're with claire but i want to make sure that nothing has happened.

as i approach the area i notice that the truck they are hiding in is no longer there. there's only one road in and out of this place which means they must have decided to head back toward the main park.
