(Bucky went to Wakanda and they took the stuff out of his head, it just didn't take years. He also didn't lose his arm in Civil War and Wakanda didn't replace it.)

Back to Present Time

I wandered the busy streets of New York on the hunt for some food and water. I kept my head down and my hat helped conceal my face a little bit.

I wore a denim ball cap, a white tank top with a red unbuttoned flannel jacket over top to cover the small rustic red star tattoo on my shoulder that HYDRA so graciously gave me. I also wore black leggings and black army-style boots. My hair hung loose in front of my shoulders and behind my back.

I had stolen these clothes from laundry lines that I occasionally saw hanging between apartments. Right now I didn't have any money so I had to steal to survive.

I couldn't be seen walking around wearing my HYDRA uniform because 1, it would draw attention to me, which is exactly what I didn't want, and 2, it would be easier for HYDRA or SHIELD to find me since they would recognize me easier. I kept one of my thigh holsters though, which held some small weapons to defend myself if I needed to, and it was mostly hidden by the flannel.

My face was free of the face paint since I had washed it off in a fountain I had come across a couple of days ago. Sadly, I couldn't say the same for the permanent tattoo on my shoulder.

I tried to stay hidden in abandoned buildings or places where there were very few people so I wouldn't be spotted as easily, but my stomach was growling and putting up quite a fuss this morning, so I had to grab something to fill it. I was used to limited food, but I still needed to eat.

I walked through the crowds and clusters of people on the sidewalks, trying to remain invisible in this large and chaotic city.

I saw a woman walking towards me with a bag from a bakery sticking out of her purse. She was talking on her phone and seemed pretty distracted. This was my chance.

As she walked past me, I swiftly snatched the small paper bag from her purse and hid it in my jacket.

I kept walking down the sidewalk like nothing had happened until I got to a quiet alley to eat my meal. I peered into the paper bag and pulled out a blueberry muffin, quickly peeling the wrapper off and taking a bite.

There was also a small unopened bottle of orange juice, so after I consumed the muffin, I drank the whole thing to relieve my parched throat.

After I finished my breakfast, I set off walking around the city to find a new place to lay low. If I stayed in one spot for too long, HYDRA and SHIELD had a better chance of finding me, which would not be pretty.

"Sir, I picked up a visual from one of the cameras around the city and identified Miss Cooper." The AI notified the billionaire.

"Pull it up," Tony said as he set down his tools from repairing one of his many cars.

FRIDAY showed a short clip on a hologram of a teen girl walking down a sidewalk. She was not wearing the HYDRA uniform he expected. Instead, she wore normal civilian clothes and didn't have any weapons visible on her.

"Are you sure that's her?" Tony questioned while wiping his oily hands on a rag and looking closer at the clip of her walking before she vanished behind a building.

"Yes, Sir. One of the police departments also released a news article and a Tweet stating that HYDRA's current Winter Soldier was spotted in this area, and for civilians to contact them if they spot her with the exact location. They also believe she is armed and dangerous, and my guess is that if she puts up too much of a fight Sir, they may not try to take her in alive..."

"Can you notify the rest of the team to meet me in the living room? And tell Fury about the news," Tony asked as he washed his hands the best he could to rid them of oil and grease from his car.

"Of course, Sir,"

"We've got to find her before the cops do, or things might get ugly," Clint spoke up after Tony had informed the group of FRIDAY's findings.

Bucky sat quietly, staring at the clip while the others around him continued their conversation about what to do.

"She's not on a mission with HYDRA." He said confidently, interrupting everyone.

The room went silent for a minute before someone finally spoke, "How can you be certain of that?" Thor questioned skeptically.

"Because HYDRA normally tries to be as discreet and secretive as possible. They would never have her walking aimlessly around the streets of New York, especially in broad daylight right around the area where she was involved in a crime a few days ago. She also doesn't have any weapons visible. I'm not saying she doesn't have any weapons at all, but when I was with HYDRA, they never worried about hiding them. She's trying to blend in and stay hidden, but not the way HYDRA taught her. She looks scared, not confident like she did in the other clip from the harbour," Bucky finally finished.

There was another moment of silence while everyone processed the information.

"So what are you suggesting?" Steve finally asked.

"That she's on the run."
