Someone Special

"I'm back!" Alex said as he opened the door.
"Hey Alex! Need some help?" I ask.
"No it's fine, I got it."
He walked over to the kitchen and placed the bags of groceries down on the counter. I helped put away the stuff and went back to drinking my soda. 

"Why do you look so happy? What's going on? Why are you smiling?" He asked.
"Why so many questions?" I said, trying to mock him.
He stared at me and I stared back at him, putting my hand on my hip.
"What? Can't a girl be happy?" I said. 

"Well yeah, but- You- You were just crying two hours ago. I thought you'd still be crying. No offense or anything." He said.
"I thought I would be too. But I thought about what you said to me earlier, and I said, 'Alex is right, I can't stop living just because I lost someone'. So I went out on a walk aannndd, everything is better!" 

He cocked an eyebrow then said, "Going out on a walk doesn't make people happy like that. Did you meet someone? Maybe a GUY?!" He smirked a bit.
I raised my eyebrows and my jaw dropped.
"Aha, pshh, NO!" I said.

He smiled and sat on the couch, then patted the seat next to him for me to sit down. "Tell me about him! Is he cute? What's he like?" Alex said.
I looked at him and cocked an eyebrow.
"Oh come on! I'm a cool uncle! You know that! You can tell me anything." He said. I shook my head and laughed.

I sat down next to him and said, "Well, uh. Yeah, I guess he's kind of cute. His name is Daniel, and he's really sweet and kind. I've never met anyone like him."
I smiled again thinking about Daniel.
"Someone has a crush! OoOooo!"
I punched him jokingly and said, "Shut up!" He laughed and so did I. 

"Where's he from?"
"Jersey," I said.
"He lives in New Jersey?" He asked.
"OH! You meant 'Where's he from' as in 'Where does he live'?" He nodded his head. "Oh he lives next door, apartment 20." 

"Ahh he's one of the new people that just moved in."
I nodded. "Yeah, he just moved in with his mom today."
We nodded our heads slowly, then stopped and sat there in silence because neither of us had anything else to say. It was kind of awkward not gonna lie. 

We looked at each other and nodded again. Then, we stopped and bursted out laughing.
