Chapter 30:

Weeks later

"Zakia.." Geo's momma said as she knocked on the door of the room before walking in as I put the last pillow on the bed "you all done in here?"

"Yes ma'am" I nodded and she looked around along with me

A week ago we finally graduated and even though I just knew I was gonna be lost and alone, Geo's momma made me feel anything but that. On graduation day she gave us the keys to the apartment we were gonna be sharing with two other roommates and she came with us today to move in

"You might have to help Geo with his room. That nigga ain't touch shit but that game and tv"

I shook my head laughing. "That's probably what he waiting on, me to do it for him"

I then sat down on the bed and she looked at me while crossing her arms "you okay?"

"Yes ma'am. It's just... I don't know"

"It's still a lot to take in huh?"

I nodded "it's like everything happened so fast over the past four years. And the fact that neither of my parents made it to my graduation.."

"I'm pretty sure it hurts, like hell but look at what you've accomplished. You got a lot to look forward to and trust me, when you make it where you wanna be in life you'll be able to tell your story"

I chewed on my bottom lip before looking up at her again "thank you. Thank you for everything"

"You don't have to thank me at all. I told you I had you and I meant it. I've always loved you like you were one of my own and you out of all people deserve happiness in life. Even if it seem like it's come late, you deserve that happiness" She told me with a smile

"Now..After a LONGGGG 18 years, I finally have my house back to myself so I'm gonna head out. I don't have to worry as long as I know you're straight because I know you'll keep that son of mine in check"

"And will" I laughed

"Y'all just promise me y'all will behave, stay focused and call me.. during daylight hours only though"

"Yes ma'am"

I stood up and she walked up to me giving me a tight hug, just hugging me for a while

"I'm so proud of you zakia"

"I really needed to hear that.. thank you" I responded before she finally pulled away

"I'll talk to you later"

"Okay"

She walked out of the room and I could hear her not too long afterwards fussing for Geo to get off of the game. Afterwards she left and it was just me and Geo here since our roommates didn't show up yet

I walked out of the room and went down the hall to his, seeing him sitting on the empty bed with his stuff still in the totes but he was busy playing his game on his tv

"Geo, really?"

"What?" He asked, keeping his eyes on the game

"Unpack"

"I will later"

"Do it now"

"You do it for me"

"No, I'm not"

"Ight then" he replied while pausing the game, put the controller down and walked over to me. Geo snaked one of his hands around me and pulled me forwards

"No. You ain getting a kiss or nothing until this room is unpacked"

Geo sucked his teeth making me laugh as I heard the door open, guessing it was one of our roommates

"Oh my god it's so pretty in here" a female voice said so we walked out of his room and the girl walked in carrying two suitcases, a big ass bag thrown across her shoulder and another bag in one of her hands with a suitcase

"Damn you need help?" Geo asked her and she laughed a little, shaking her head

"No, I'm good" she said as she finally let go of everything and took the bag off of her shoulder

She was a really pretty brownskin girl with curly hair pulled up into a messy bun. She wore no makeup, just lashes and her nails were long as hell. I saluted her for carrying all them bags with nails like that cause I couldn't do it.

"I'm Aliyah but you can just call me liyah" she smiled while sticking her hand out, I guess wanting us to shake it so I did

"Zakia"

"Geo" Geo said as he shook her hand as well and the door opened again. A dark skin boy walked in pushing the door open with about three bags and we all looked. When liyah turned around to see her whole facial expressions went downhill

"Ahh hell no" she said out loud and the boy looked at her, sucking his teeth as well making me and Geo look at each other

"I know you fuckin lying" he said and Geo smirked

"Y'all know each other?" I asked and liyah looked at me

"That's my stupid ass ex Britain"

"Oh shit" Geo muttered while laughing and they both just exchanged glares

"Stop tellin people I'm yo ex. Ion claim you"

"Boy kiss my ass" liyah replied and I shook my head

"Let me help you take your stuff to your room" I told her to take her attention off of him and I helped her grab her stuff and she walked to the empty room beside mine

"Outta all the places in the word, we end up here together" she sighed and I laughed a little while she sat down on the bed "I hate niggas"

"I feel that way sometimes, especially when Geo pisses me off"

"Oh y'all two date?"

"Yeah"

"Awe. How long y'all been together"

"Not long but we've been best friends since we were little"

"That's the cutest shit. I wish I could be like y'all"

"She seem nice now but trust me. That bitch crazy" I could hear Britain say as he walked down the hall talking to Geo and liyah rolled her eyes

"How long ago yall broke up?"

"Two months ago. We were together for 3 years until I caught him texting other bitches talking about fuckin em then wanna call me delusional when I confronted him about it. The bitch even went the extra mile to delete the messages then showed me his phone afterwards like ima dummy"

"No he did not" I laughed

"Yes he did. Then when I tried to break up with him he got the nerve to say he go break up with me instead cause I be assuming too much and I'm insecure"

"Well I guess this about to be an interesting time"

"Yeah it's gone be interesting as hell when y'all see me rip one of his skinny ass arms off his shoulders and beat his ass unconscious with it. Since he wanna call me a crazy bitch so bad"

"That's new.. I like that" I told her and she started laughing

"You know what, I like you. I think we'll be cool" she told me and I nodded, sitting on the bed beside her as we continued talking.. getting to know each other
