Yn's POV

"Jay, hey," I greet and give him a small hug. "What are you doing here?"

"Apparently there was a stabbing. I'm just here taking interviews to try and figure out what happened," Jay spoke.

"Right. Um, Will and Dr. Charles are over here. Follow me," I say and lead him over to his brother and the older psychiatrist. "Hey, guys. So, what's the verdict on that woman?"

"Well, Ms. Coleman certainly appears paranoid and delusional, but I'd like to know what's driving it. What are the labs saying?" Dr. Charles asked.

"Well, tox screen is negative, but she is malnourished and extremely dehydrated. She definitely has some kidney damage," Will noted.

"Yeah, that's not surprising. I mean, she hasn't been drinking water or eating, and she thinks Mr. Gardner's trying to poison her. Says she acted in self-defense," Dr. Charles mentioned.

"Yeah, but how can we believe her? You just more or less said she's crazy, right? Can't have it both ways," Jay pointed out.

"He's saying we don't know yet," Will clarified.

"Yeah, I mean, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you," Dr. Charles said.

"All right, well, in any case, I want to get her statement and get a tech down here to take her prints to match them to the knife," Jay informed us.

"I could get a much clearer picture for you if we let her calm down a bit," Dr. Charles admitted.

"I'm sorry, guys. She admitted to stabbing someone, so it doesn't matter if you certify her or not, compos mentis, she's a suspect," Jay stated.

"Fair enough. I'll take you to her," Dr. Charles declared and led Jay away from us.

"I'll meet you for lunch," Will told me.

"All right. See you then," I say and peck his lips. After that, I headed over to Maggie. "Got any cases for me Mags?"

"Yep. Infant with a bad cough in two," Maggie answered and handed me a tablet.

"Maggie," I start.

"Yn, that's your case. End of discussion," Maggie stated. I sighed, but nodded, and made my way to the patient's room. After what had happened a few weeks ago, and because of how my mental health was affected when I was a baby doctor, I wanted to stop treating babies for awhile. But here I was.

"Mrs. Campos, hi, I'm Dr. Ln. Why don't you tell me about your little girl, Abby?" I ask.

"About a week ago, she came down with a cold, and it kept getting worse, and now she has this really bad cough. It sounds so strange," Mrs. Campos explained.

"Is that normal?" a woman who was also in the room questioned.

"That's my sister, Wendy," Mrs. Campos added.

I smiled. "I'm going to take a listen to her chest, but you can hold her while I do that."

"Temperature's 101.2," Monique informed me. I nodded and slung my stethoscope off of my neck, pressing the end of it to Abby's chest so I could listen to her lungs.

"Okay, so, that sound that you're hearing, it's what we call stridor cough. It could be caused by croup, but more likely pertussis, whooping cough. I'm pretty sure that's what we're looking at here," I announce.

"But Abby already had her first DTaP shot. She's not due for the second one," Mrs. Campos pointed out.

"Unfortunately, she doesn't have full immunity yet," I share.
