Reunion

Yn's POV

"Natalie, hey. I'm glad you're back" I say and give her a hug. "Yn, it's only been a month" Natalie said. "I know, but I've really missed you" I say. "So, spill the details. Did you talk to Will about you guys having kids yet" Natalie asked. At that moment, my face fell. "Uh, yeah. We talked" I say. "And? What'd he say" Natalie asked. "Nothing. He said absolutely nothing. I told him that I wanted to have kids with him, and he just stared at me" I say. "You're joking" Natalie said. "Nope. We haven't spoken since then" I say. "Did you guys break up" Natalie asked. "No. We're just taking a break. Look, I've got to get to my next patient, so we'll talk later" I say.

"Yn, you'll be working with Dr. Halstead on this one" Maggie said and handed me a chart. "Are you serious" I ask her. "I'm sorry, Yn, but you're the only two ED docs without a patient" Maggie said. I sighed and looked up, seeing Will a few feet away from me. "Lets just get this over with" I say to him and enter the patient's room.

"Mr. Mason, I'm Dr. Halstead, and this is-" I cut Will off. "I'm Dr. Ln. So, tell me, when did this pain start" I ask. That's when Ethan entered the room and smiled. "Chief Petty Officer Mason? I can't believe my eyes" Ethan said. "I take it you two kids know each other" Will said. "I had the pleasure of serving time on a carrier with this man. What are you doing in Chicago" Ethan asked. "I retired two years ago, and, uh, let's catch up after we let the docs here do his thing" Mr. Mason said. "Hey, you come to Chicago Med, you get me. Chart, please" Ethan said. I passed him the chart and leaned up to his ear. "You're a life saver. Thank you" I say to him before leaving the room.

That same day, I didn't have any major cases, just minor cuts and bruises. Currently, I was standing on one of the hospital's balconies staring at the skyline. "Hey. I thought you would've gone home by now" Connor said and appeared next to me. "I didn't really feel like going home to an empty apartment" I say. "You still haven't made up with Will, have you" he asked. I shook my head, a few tears falling from my eyes. "I don't know what to do, Connor. I love Will so much, and the thought of actually breaking up with him........" I couldn't continue talking because I suddenly started sobbing.

Connor embraced me, rubbing his hand up and down my back in attempts to calm me down. "Look, Yn, I don't know you and Will that well, but I see the way you guys look at each other. You're meant to be together. I mean, you guys figured out how to have a relationship even though you work together, which is a hard thing to do. If you can do that, then you can work out whatever problem you're having" Connor said.

"I want to, Connor. I really do. But I can't work up the nerve to talk to him. I don't know why I'm nervous though because I've known him for practically my whole life" I say. "You're only nervous because you're afraid of what he's going to say. Trust me, Yn, if you don't say anything, your relationship is going to be ruined, and I don't want that. You need to talk to him" Connor said. "I know. I will soon, I promise. I uh, I should be getting home. I'll see you next shift, yeah" I ask. "Of course" Connor said. "Great. Talk to you later then."
