Love at First Cut; A Will Halstead Fanfic

Timing

Yn's POV

One of my favorite things to do was walk into work with my hand laced with Will's. And while we were doing that today, something didn't feel right. "You okay? You're looking kind of pale" Will said. "I'm fine" I say. "Are you sure? You don't look too good" Will said. Just then, my stomach turned, and I could feel bile rising up in my throat. I ran into the nearest trash can and threw up everything that in was my stomach. "Yn" Will shouted and ran over to me. "I'm fine. Everything's good" I say. Suddenly though, I became dizzy and lightheaded, and grabbing onto Will was the only thing that kept me upright. However, after a few seconds, my eyes rolled back into my head, and I lost consciousness.

When I woke up, I was laying down in a hospital bed with a breathing mask on and an IV in my arm. "Good. You're awake" Natalie said and appeared in my room. "What happened" I ask and sit up. "You fainted, so we're giving you some fluids to keep you hydrated" Natalie said. "Is that all" I ask. "No. We also ran some labs, and I have some news for you" Natalie said. "News" I ask. "Yeah. You're pregnant" Natalie said. "What? No. That's not possible. Will and I, we're always careful" I say. "Well, obviously one night you weren't. I'd like to give you an ultrasound later to see how far along you are" Natalie said. "Uh, okay. When you get a chance, can you call Will down here" I ask. "Of course. I'll let you rest" Natalie said and left the room.

A few minutes later, Will entered the room. "Yn. I'm so glad you're okay" he said and pressed a kiss to my knuckles. "I um, I have some news to tell you" I say. "Me too" Will said. "Okay, you go first" I say. Will took a deep breath and pulled an envelope from his pocket. "I got the ED attending job at Med. I'm going to be staying Chicago" Will said. "That's great, Will. I'm so proud of you" I say as Will took a seat next to my bed. "I thought the committee hated me. I don't know why they gave me the job" Will said. "I may have talked to Mrs. Goodwin about giving you the job" I say. "Yn, you didn't have to do that" Will said. "Of course I did. You mean everything to me, and I want our relationship to last a long time" I say.

"Okay, so what's the news you wanted to share" Will asked me. "Um, Natalie found out what was wrong with me" I say. "All right, so what is it" Will asked. I took a deep breath and looked Will straight in the eyes. "I'm uh, I'm pregnant" I say. "What" Will asked. "I'm pregnant, Will, and I'm sorry if you're upset but-" Will cut me off by pressing his lips to mine for a short kiss. "Why would you think I'd be upset" Will asked me. "Because we said we wanted to wait to have kids. I didn't think you'd want to have a kid when we've only been dating for a year" I say. "Yn, I know that this was entirely unplanned, but I love you so much, and I'll love this baby just the same" Will said.

A few hours later, Natalie came back to give me an ultrasound. Will was sitting next to me, his hand clutching mine. Natalie rubbed the gel on my stomach, which was cold, but not too uncomfortable. Then, she placed the transducer on my stomach, and an image appeared on the monitor. "There's the gestational sac. You look to be about 6 weeks along" Natalie said. "Can you believe this? In 9 months, I'm going to be a dad" Will said. "I'm so happy for you guys" Natalie said. "Okay, we need to put together a crib, buy baby clothes, get some diapers" Will said. "Will, we have 9 months to do all of that. The first step is moving in together" I say. "Right. I'm getting ahead of myself. Lets just enjoy this moment while it lasts" Will said. "I'm with you, Will."
