Anguirus' hammer smashed another MechaGodzilla to bits. He'd been mowing them down along with Cherno ever since the battle began.
"So... worst date we've been on so far?" He asked her. She rolled her eyes.
"For the last time, this doesn't count as a date." She chuckled, slamming two units heads together.
"Sure it does. We're together, having fun, flirting, that counts as a date." He said.
"Dates typically don't involve an army of robots trying to kill us." Cherno reminded. She deactivated her taser gauntlets and pulled out her AK-47, emptying a clip at a group of units. She had modified her gun to fire tank-piercing rounds, since she figured regular rounds wouldn't do much on them.
"But if it was a date, this wouldn't be the worst one you've taken me on." She said, reloading her gun.
Anguirus was about to retaliate, but a bullet whizzing past his head alerted him to another approaching group of units. Cherno noticed them too and open fired on them, but it wasn't enough to take them all. Anguirus looked down at his feet, and saw a defeated MechaGodzilla unit on the ground, still holding its gun. He thought quickly and picked up the gun. He'd never fired one before, but he was willing to give it a shot, litteraly. He aimed it at the units and pulled the trigger, opening fire on them. Surprisingly, he took to it pretty easily.
"I can see why you like these things." He chuckled. "But the hammer's more fun."
Cherno rolled her eyes at him, until her own gun was shot out of her hands. More units rushed towards her, and in a flash, she picked up the closest weapon to her, Anguirus' hammer. She swung it at a unit, smashing it to bits. Then she did the same with two more.
"Huh... you're right, this is more fun." She chuckled.Hokmuto flew through the sky, overseeing the battle. He could see everything, but he was looking for something specific. Or more accurately, someone. Finally, he found her; Muto. At the moment, she was fighting a group of MechaGodzilla units. Hokmuto watched as she gracefully flipped and dodged around their attacks before she slashed their heads off. She didn't seem to notice Hokmuto hovering above her. The approaching units were becoming fewer and fewer as Muto destroyed them. Finally, there were none left. Now was Hokmuto's chance. He breathed in deeply and flew down, landing close behind her.
"Muto!" He called. Muto's eyes widened, and her expression twisted with rage as she recognized the voice. When she turned to face Hokmuto, her eyes were glowing red and her teeth were gritted. She wasn't exactly happy to see her ex again.
"You!?" She shouted, diving towards him with her knife outstretched. Hokmuto gasped and dodged an attack towards his stomach, and then another towards his face. He backed up further and further as Muto slashed at him.
"W-wait a sec, just hear me out, please!" He said.
"So you're working for Ghidorah now?" Muto snarled. "Good, it'll give me an excuse to kill you!"
Hokmuto could have drawn his own knives and defended himself, but he wanted to show he wasn't a threat. So he just kept dodging as he explained himself.
"I am, but only because I had nowhere else to go." He said, continually moving away from her attacks. "After we split up, I passed out and woke up on his ship. I didn't have much of a choice but to join him."
"I don't give a shit if you had a choice or not!" Muto spat, stopping her attacks for just a moment. "You're on his side now, that means we're enemies!"
Hokmuto rolled his eyes while Muto started attacking him again. He grabbed her wrist mid-swing, which stopped her in her tracks.
"It doesn't have to be like that." Hokmuto said. "I'll leave Ghidorah's army, and you and I can run away from all of this. We can be like we were before, when we... Muto?"
He then realized the way she was looking at him. She just stared at him with wide, scared eyes. Her knife fell out of her shaking hand. Hokmuto raised an eyebrow and let go of her wrist. As soon as he let go of her she turned around and held her arm close to her chest.
"A-are you okay?" Hokmuto asked. "I didn't mean to hurt you..."
"... You didn't hurt me." Muto muttered. "... But someone else did."
Hokmuto was confused. He wasn't sure what Muto was talking about. She eventually calmed herself down and turned towards him. Her eyes were filled with less rage and more hatred.
"I got locked up in the Shatterdome because I risked everything to bring you back to life." She said. "And while I was there, my cellmate... she assaulted me. Godzilla defeated her in the end. He was there for me. Everyone on Monster Island was there for me. And you want me to leave the closest thing to a family I've ever had just because you asked me to? The only reason I got locked up is because I broke into that lab to save you! It never would happened if I hadn't brought you back, and just left you dead! You ruined my life!"
Hokmuto tried to respond, but he had no words. He could see now why Muto hated him. He would hate himself too if he'd been what she'd been through.
"Shit... I-I'm so sorry..." Hokmuto said.
"No, you're not." Muto snapped. "You'd never understand how I-"
She froze again. Her eyes drifted to somewhere behind him. Hokmuto quickly realized what this meant. Whoever was behind him was the one who assaulted her in the Shatterdome. He turned around and saw Slattern approaching them.
"Well if it isn't little Muto." She smirked. "It's certainly been a while, hasn't it?"
"It was you?" Hokmuto asked. Slattern either didn't hear him or ignored him.
"Well? Are you gonna kill her?" She asked. She knew of Hokmuto's feelings towards Muto. She wanted to press him on it a bit. "Go on. I'm waiting." She encouraged, gesturing towards Muto. Hokmuto didn't move an inch.
"No?" Slattern said in mock surprise. "Then get the hell out of my way."
She swatted him aside, making him fall to the ground. Muto backed away from her as she approached.
"S-stay back..." She said.
"Or what?" Slattern asked. "You couldn't keep me off of you before, think you can do it now?"
"I said stay the fuck back!" Muto threatened, pointing her knife at her. Slattern chuckled as she saw her hand shaking.
"Relax, I'm not gonna do 'that' again." She said. "For your information, I found a new toy to play with, and he's much more fun than you. So I'm just gonna kill you instead."
As she finished her sentence, she lunged foreword, claws outstretched. Muto dodged out of the way. She somehow couldn't bring herself to land an attack. She wanted to kill Slattern with every fibre of her being, but she just couldn't focus. After a few more missed attacks, Slattern kicked her in the side, making her fly into the side of a broken building and fall to the ground on her back. Slattern quickly pounced on top of her, pinning her wrists to the ground. This made Muto freeze up, just as it had when Hokmuto grabbed her wrist. Slattern grinned.
"Well... I'm sure Ghidorah wouldn't mind if I indulged myself a little." She hissed. But before she could touch her, she felt herself being pushed. Soon she found herself pinned uncomfortably to a wall, by none other than Hokmuto.
"Run!" He shouted at Muto, who was starting to come to her senses again. She realized what he was doing for her, but wasn't sure why.
"Go on, get out of here now!" Hokmuto repeated, Muto didn't have to be told twice. She took off in the opposite direction, and Hokmuto sighed once he saw she was safe. But a sharp pain suddenly rippled through his hand. Slattern had bit him, sinking her sharp teeth into his hand. Once he lost his grip on her, she elbowed him in the stomach, making him back up.
"What the hell was that!?" She shrieked. "You let her get away you idiot!"
"What did you do to her?" Hokmuto growled. Slattern's furious scowl transformed into a look of confusion, and finally a smug look of realization.
"Oooh, so that's what's going on here." She chuckled. "So, Muto spilled the beans about what went down in the Shatterdome, huh? Yeah, we had a lot of fun together, her and I. Aww, does that make you upset?"
"That 'fun' wasn't consensual." Hokmuto spat.
"No, I suppose it wasn't." Slattern shrugged. "Why do you even care? Not like she'd go for you again anyway. You think just because you saved her from me, she'll love you again? You really are pathetic."
That was the last straw. Hokmuto rushed her, holding his two knives ready to kill. But before he could reach her, she shot foreward and pinned him to the ground, claws raised.
"One slash to the throat and it's over for you." She threatened. "Now be a good boy and do your job."
She got off of him, but not before stomping on his chest to knock the wind out of his lungs. Once he recovered, she was gone. He scowled at the direction she had left in. They would definitely have a chat about this once he was back on the ship.
