One Hour Later...
Finally it was over. After both Godzillas killed both Ghidorahs, his army retreated, and the MechaGodzilla army deactivated. The war was over. Like Godzilla had before, Mothra, Rodan, Battra, and Anguirus's new super forms disappeared, leaving them normal. After the battle was over, they made their way back to Monster Island. Megaguirus and the other reformed Kaiju were taken back to the Shatterdome, except for Dogolas. He had seemingly disappeared under everyones noses. But Godzilla wasn't too concerned about that. Right now, he stood in front of the ocean, watching as his Titan counterpart trudged back into the water. Gamera was right behind him.
"Now you're sure you don't need me to go with you?" Godzilla asked.
"I'll make sure he gets home safe." Gamera assured. He flew into the air above the now water-bound Titan. But before he left, Titan Godzilla turned around, seeing his humanoid counterpart behind him. He lowered himself so that his head lay close to the ground. Godzilla walked over to the Titan counterpart, and placed his hand on his snout. There was an obvious connection between the two, and while Godzilla was sad to see his Titan go, he knew he'd never be too far away.
"It was great to finally meet you in person, big guy." He said. Titan Godzilla smirked before rising back up and turning around, descending back into the ocean. The last thing Godzilla could see of him was his dorsal plates disappearing beneath the waves. He sighed in relief. It felt as if a massive weight was lifted from his shoulders. No more Ghidorah, no more MechaGodzillas, and no more Titans. It felt like a dream come true. The sound of footsteps behind him let him know that someone was approaching him.
"So it's finally over, huh?" Gojirin asked. She and Komi stood next to him, looking out at the waves with him.
"Yup." Godzilla nodded. "Feels like an eternity, but we're still here. Still chugging along. We've lost a lot, it's true. Even I was lost for a while. But one thing kept me going; somehow I knew, I just knew that eventually, we'd be here."
Gojirin nodded. "A sword only gets hardened after tempering." She said.
"Did you get that from a fortune cookie?" Komi chuckled.
"Was it that obvious?" Gojirin giggled. Godzilla chuckled as well.
"What are we doing standing here?" He asked. "Everyone's partying now, right?"
"Yeah, we came over to come find you." Komi said. "Now c'mon."
Godzilla nodded, and the three walked back into the woods.Mothra smiled as she watched her friends celebrate around her. The relief she felt from this ordeal being over was intoxicating. Especially now that Godzilla was alive, her future seemed brighter than ever. She would have joined the celebration, but she was busy with something. Looking over her shoulder and into the dark woods behind her, she could sense a presence. Three, specifically. Eventually, the presences manifested themselves as blurry blue glowing orbs, and eventually as humanoid shapes, until they finally took their final forms. It was Mosura, Mothra's late mother, and Batora, her late father. Their spirits looked at her with pride and adoration. Next to them, another late family member of Mothra stood. It was Leo. He also smiled proudly at his little sister. Mothra smiled as well, wiping away a tear. Seeing her family like this was emotional for her, but she managed to keep her composure. She didn't have much time to stay with them, however, as she noticed Godzilla return. She turned back to her family, and Mosura nodded, gesturing for her to go and be with him. Mothra smiled and did just that, while the spirits disappeared behind her. She ran to Godzilla and hugged him tightly. He laughed and hugged her back, spinning her around before setting her back on the ground.
"Happy to see me?" He asked sarcastically.
She responded by kissing him deeply before eventually pulling away. "You know it." She winked.Battra walked through the celebrating crowds somewhat nervously. He was comfortable with crowds in the battlefield, but not in celebrations like this. Normally he'd just hole up by himself somewhere away from everyone else, but he was looking for Muto. Eventually, he found her, sitting alone on a bench. He sighed and made his way over to her.
"Hey..." He said, sitting next to her.
"Oh... hey..." Muto replied. She didn't seem particularly excited to see him. Battra raised an eyebrow.
"Is everything okay?" He asked.
"Yeah... well, not really..." Muto explained. "I-I mean things are good now, obviously... but..."
"What are you trying to say?" Battra asked. Muto sighed and turned to face him.
"Okay, so... I like you. Like a lot. And I think you like me too, right?" Muto asked.
"Yes, I do." Battra nodded. He reached for Muto's hand, but she pulled away from him.
"Well... I know we kissed, and some... other things. But..." Muto rubbed her arm to offset her nervousness. "I've been through a lot in terms of trusting others. First Hokmuto, and then the whole Slattern thing... and now Hokmuto is dead... I think I need to be on my own. I just don't think I'm ready to get into a real relationship again. I'm sorry..."
"I see..." Battra said. He understood, but he was still somewhat hurt. Actually, he was heartbroken. Muto saw this in his expression, and spoke again, taking his hand and scooting closer towards him.
"I-it's not that I don't want to love you." She assured. "I do, I really really do... it's just that I'm not ready to love you yet."
"I understand." Battra nodded. He smiled slightly. "To be honest, I think I may feel the same way. I don't think I understand relationships enough yet to have one myself."
Muto nodded as well. She was glad Battra understood, and smiled as well. "Well, maybe someday we can give this whole 'love' thing a shot." She said. "And until then, we'll just be friends. Maybe even best friends."
Battra chuckled slightly. "I think I'd like that." He replied. Muto was glad he was okay with this. She stood up and gave him a kiss on the cheek before she walked into the party. Battra felt the goodbye kiss on his cheek as he watched her leave. Once he was sure she couldn't see him, his expression changed to one of pure dejection. Luckily, he wasn't alone for long. Rodan and Anguirus approached him and sat next to him on either sides.
"That's gotta sting." Rodan chuckled.
"Oh, you saw that..." Battra said.
"Yeah. Breakups are always rough, buddy." Anguirus said. "You gotta get used to them."
"In the meantime, have this. It'll help." Rodan handed him a beer. Battra rejected it at first, but after seeing Muto celebrating with the others, he grabbed the bottle, popped it open on the edge of his gauntlet, and drank half of it in one gulp.
