Chapter 6:Babysitting

I walked down some stairs and into the lab, "You called" I said walking over and standing next to him.  He was working on a project or it looked like a lot of projects, I looked at one and what he was missing was so obvious so I picked it up "Do you know what you are missing?" I asked causing him to look up

"No I can't figure it out" he said quickly glancing at the project I was holding

"Oh well you need a bolt, screw, washer, and a metal wire to connect them all" I said which made him look up at me in shock before taking the project from my hands and looking at it

"How did you know?" he asked he was so confused how could a little girl know so much about what he was building by just a look

"I don't know I just saw it in my head and pictured what it needed I did some engeneering in college before I dropped out" I said looking over the table taking in all of his many projects he has started

"Oh something new about you" he said looking back down and finishing up his project "So why I called you down here"

I turned and looked at him "And why did you call me down here?" I asked meeting his eyes, I looked away not giving Tony time to really look into mine

"I need a favor?" he asked I looked back at him "Can you watch Morgan tonight while I take Pepper out on a date?" he said putting the last piece of his project in place before it turned on

"Oh yeah I can do that" I said looking away

"Thanks" he said lightly tapping my arm before walking out of the lab leaving me alone

"Why did I saw yes UGH" I said walking out with my head hanging looking down at the floor

I was walking down a hallway when mom grabbed me and pulled me into a room "Thanks for doing that for Tony I know he'll appreciate it" she said giving me a smile

"Well if I'm going to give them a shot then I need to get to know them" I said smiling back.  Mom has always been here for me, even when I doubt myself she always has my back

"I guess your right but are you sure you want to get to know them before telling them the truth I won't say anything but you will need to at some point" she said pulling me into a hug

"Thanks mom and I'll tell them eventually just not right now" I said hugging her back

"Now I should go see when Tony plans on leaving and coming back" I said walking out of the room and down the rest of the hallway

I walked down to his room to see it empty, I walked to Morgan's room to see if they were in there and they were.  I knocked on the door "Hey" I said walking in and over to where Morgan and Tony were sitting "Am I interrupting" I put my finger over my lip and bitting it

"No no your all good I was just telling Morgan that you would be her babysitter tonight and she needs to listen to you" Tony said looking down at Morgan.  She was a sweet little girl who has a sister and she doesn't even know, nobody knows except me and Nat

"We can play dressup and tea party and--" she started to say

"Woah I think we may only have time for one of those tonight but we can do more another time if you want" I said crouching down infront of her so she could see my face at her level

"Okay" she said smiling, I couldn't help but smile as well and soon Tony was smiling too

"Your so sweet Hope" I heard Pepper say from the door

I turned around and saw her leaning against the door frame and smiling at me and Morgan.  "Its really no trouble" I said looking up at her

I can feel my anger building up but I don't know whether I'm mad at dad or Pepper for leaving me alone, yeah Pepper was the one dad left me for but then again I don't know if he knew mom was pregnant or I think he knew and he still left but I don't know.  But at the same time I don't think I can be mad at them because if dad would have stayed he wouldn't have Morgan and I wouldn't have grown up with Nat as my mom

"Well we appreciate it" Tony said walking over to Pepper and taking her hand "We will be home by 9 please have her in bed by 8 she knows what she needs to do before bed" he said before waving goodbye to Morgan and walking out of the room with Pepper hand in hand

I turned around and crouched back down infront of Morgan "Okay well we have 1 hour before dinner and then 2 hours after dinner so what do you want to do?" I asked watching her carefully

"Well can we play barbies before dinner and then maybe tea party" she said all sweet and innocently

"Sure whatever you want" I said standing up and walking over to the bucket labled Barbie, I took the lid off and grabbed 2 "Which one you want to be" I walked back over to her and let her choose.  She picked the one in my right hand "Good choice" she gave me a smile before sitting on the floor

I sat across from her and we played barbie for over an hour before we heard a knock on the door, "Dinners done" Steve said opening the door and giving us a smile.  He had his body against the door and arms crossed

"Okay" Morgan said bringing the barbie doll over to the bucket and walking out of the room to the kitchen

I put my doll in the bucket and put the lid on closing it "You alright?" Steve asked causing me to look up

"Yeah just getting used to living here" I said looking down "Truely I can see your doubting my answer if I wasn't fine I would go back to my old house" I looked up and into his eyes giving him a smile

"Okay well lets get you to dinner with Morgan" he said leaving the room and I followed him
