"Yes" I said nervously
"Are you sure?" he asked nervously too
"Yeah" I said pulling the picture out from my drawer handing it to him "Its you and mom" I said looking at him
"Oh I remember Claire she was the woman of my dreams--" he said but I cut him off
"Until you met Pepper" I said looking back down at the floor
"I'm sorry Hope I should have known, I should have tried to be a part of your life" he said putting his hand on my leg, I moved my eyes to look at it
"No its fine how could you have known" I said looking up at him
"But I knew and I left I thought you would be better without me and all my drama" he said pulling his hand back
"I thought you didn't know" I said grabbing his arm making him look at me "And you left" I couldn't hold the tears back anymore
He pulled me into the side of him and put his arm around me "I'm sorry I can now see that I should have stayed" he said running his fingers through my hair trying to calm me down
"Its fine you were doing what you thought was best" I said wiping the tears quickly away but I didn't move it felt nice to me in my dads arms even if he wasn't there for the first 22 years of my life "But what are you going to tell Pepper?" I asked and his face went blank. I don't think he has thought that far ahead yet, like she had to have known something was up but I don't think she figured it out and there is no point in hiding it from her because me being Tony Starks daughter is spreading around the Tower faster than you can say 'boo'
"Umm well--" he started to say but was cut off by someone yelling his name
"TONY" Pepper was screaming we could hear her running around like a mad woman and to be fair she was probably shocked at first but then mad that Tony never told her about me
She barged in my room staring at the both of us still in each others arms "How... When.... What" she was in shock and I could tell on how she was talking "You have explaining to do" she said pointing to Tony with her finger in a trouble kind of way
I sat up and watched as Tony walked over to Pepper but she just stood there looking him dead in the eyes "What did you hear?" he asked calming putting his hands on her shoulders trying to calm her down. I looked away wishing I had that before but I looked back and Pepper caught my eye and now we are starring into each others eyes
"Pepper I'm sorry--" I started to say but Tony put his hand up telling me to stop
"Pep Hope has nothing to do with this okay yes she is my daughter but I never knew her until a month ago when Nat brought her here okay I left her mom when she was pregnant I didn't want Hope growing up in the spotlight like I did" he said looking at her they were starring at each others eyes again
I looked down at the floor not knowing what to do, while I was looking at the floor I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and saw it was Tony he was sitting next to me again, I looked at him before looking at Pepper "Pepper what he said was true he didn't know I was his daughter until I let it slip with mom and I get it if you want me to leave" I said looking down at my hands in my lap biting my lip
Pepper came and sat down on the other side of me grabbing my hand, I looked up at her in shock when she did that. "Hope I'm not mad at you I'm just shocked of course you can stay Tony is your dad after all" she said with a smile
"Are you sure because I can leave--" I was saying but Tony cut me off
"No Pepper is right your my daughter and I wasn't there for you the first half of your life and I want to get to know you and be there like I am with Morgan" he gave me a smile and I gave him one too
"Thanks you guys" I said looking between the both of them
That went way better than what I expected, I thought Tony would have kicked me out or gotten really mad and mom would have fought him and as much fun as that would be I'm glad it didn't come down to something like that because it would break my heart
"Your my sister" I heard a little voice say coming from the door
"Yeah" I said extending my hand and she ran over jumping in my lap
"Yay" she said excited smiling from ear to ear
"Well I think its settled welcome to the family Hope Smith" Tony said giving us all a smile
"Actually its Hope Stark" I said smiling at him "My real name is Hope Stark I lied about my last name earlier" They looked at me "What it would be weird if I showed up and was like hi I'm Hope Stark and plus I wanted to get to know you guys first" I was still smiling at them
"Yeah I would have probably done the same" Pepper said
"Thanks for being so understanding" I smiled at Morgan who was still in my lap smiling at me
"Of course and now we can see the truth behind what you said last night" Tony said laughing a little bit. My face went red
"Yeah and again I'm sorry about that" I said dropping the smile and biting the inside of my lip a little
"No we get it, its fine" Pepper said putting her hand on my shoulder and rubbing it
This is going to be my family and we are all happy
