Dawn watched as his friends all gathered together, bracing themselves for the Corrupted Master's approach. But, he became split up from the group and was only facing Samael. Dawn tried to summon an animal for a surprise attack, but he dodged it with ease. Facing someone with an Unconscious power was going to be harder than he thought.
"Let's make this more interesting, shall we?"
Just like that, he was no longer in the forest, and his friends were no longer near him. Everyone else was gone too, except for Samael. It was like a personal void, though he could hear echoes of voices within it. They were calling his name with worry. Was it his friends?
"Welcome to your own brain Dawn! What a shame, it's so empty!"
Enraged, Dawn recovered quickly, summoning his disc. This time, he was not going to be as courteous. He summoned a phoenix with it, burning and beautiful. Even if it dies, it will not be gone forever, just like him. Samael lost his footing slightly as he tried to dodge the flaming bird that attacked him. He was trying to deflect it with his whip sword, but they kept moving around him in a taunting manner.
Dawn felt woozy and motion sick, which he thought was because of Samael's power. But, his body felt like it was moving. Maybe they were trying to wake him up? Well, there was no time to focus on that. He had a horrible monster to defeat.
"Get this stupid bird off of me! I thought you would be easy with your stupid little pets as your power!"
Dawn smirked back at Samael, summoning two more birds beside him.
"Well, then you made a huge mistake by underestimating us."
At first, he was satisfied with watching this force of darkness be attacked by three phoenixes. However, he thought of something even better. Samael found himself stuck under a pile of sheep, which only seemed to frustrate him more. His arm was trapped under the pile, so Samael could not move his weapon.
"This is what you plan to defeat me with?! Some worthless sheep?!"
"Well, your power is to be unconscious, so I thought sheep would be a fun choice."
Then, he was woken up by Adam shaking him incessantly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adam had been shaking Dawn for about five minutes now while his friends defended him from the other Corrupted Masters. Finally, Dawn seemed to snap out of it. Samael would probably not be far behind him.
"You okay Dawn?! We almost thought you were going to die for a bit there."
Dawn looked back up at him with a smile.
"No worries, Samael was not that bad. If a man like him can succumb to a pile of sheep, I have hope for this world."
Adam was about to burst out laughing, but got cut off by Acheron, who managed to get past the others. Dawn did not even have to warn him, as his sword pushed back against Acheron's falchion.
"You really thought you could trick me while I was distracted? You really should have studied me better, so you would know that I was trained for this!"
He continued to hold back Acheron, but his face wore a devilish grin. What was he planning? Taking a quick glance at the others, they were holding their own and nothing seemed amiss yet. They really had grown a lot since he met them. He would have to remind them about how awesome they were after these Corrupted Masters were defeated.
Just then, he felt a pain in his heart, and his emotions flipped entirely.
"You should have payed more attention too, child, so you would remember that my power is Despair!"
There was no hope left for them. They were losing this, whether they liked it or not. Adam tried to stop the negative emotions from streaming through, but they just became more repetitive as he fought back. He swore he could hear someone saying his name, then something else, but it was drowned out by those voices. Is this how Cory felt with his entity?
His grip on the sword was loosening. He thought about backing away and using his bow, but what would be the point? But then, he saw a reason to keep going.
All of his nine friends were fighting, trying to save one another as the Corrupted Master's fought back with gusto. None of them gave up when they got here, so why should he? He lost his concentration on blocking Acheron's sword, but Dawn stepped in as his hearing was coming back. Despite his focus on fighting, of course, Max could not help himself.
"Look who's asleep now, airhead!"
He was definitely going to get him back for that when this was over. While Dawn distracted Acheron with a small dragon, Adam took the opportunity to pin down Samael. After all, the rest of the Corrupted Master's were too focused on the others to notice him temporarily slip away. Then, he returned to help Dawn with Acheron.
With both Adam's excellent showmanship in weaponry and Dawn's mythological animal speed run, they had exhausted Acheron enough to disable him. Dawn threw his disc at Acheron's falchion while Adam held him back. With two men down, Dawn and Adam high fived. Now that he was not dealing with a draining battle, he had time to see how his girlfriend was holding up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh, Alesa was holding up all right. That is, if by holding up you meant fighting knowledge with literal fire.
Samara seemed to be able to read every move she made. It was getting more annoying the longer she kept up. Each time she swiped her whip towards her, Samara would block it with a barrier, smirking knowingly as she did so.
Alesa's frustration was showing in her fighting, as her speed of attack increased each time Samara avoided it. She may have been a daydreamer before, but this woman was a nightmare to deal with. After she shot a fireball at her, a pressured stream of water came towards her, which Alesa barely dodged as it hit Samara's face.
"Nick! Careful where you aim, you could have put out my fire!"
To give him the slightest bit of credit, it was not easy to coordinate with nine other people in the middle of a battlefield. He could have at least warned her. Regardless, Nick swept in with more shots of water, soaking Samara.
"You brats! A stream of water is not going to beat me!"
Oh, Nick had made a huge mistake. Samara had only become feistier, summoning twenty weapons at once, which were ready to fire at a moment's notice. Of course he had to make this harder for her.
"Nick! I need you to help deflect her weapons. I have an idea, but it requires some concentration!"
Nick nodded towards her, summoning multiple waves to help deflect and slow down Samara's weapons as they were shot at Alesa. He was also warding off his enemy at the same time, keeping him trapped in a body of water that he was barely surviving. Once she was ready, Alesa held up her hand to summon her attack and to signal Nick to stop helping.
Alesa was going out in a blaze of glory, she would not let this cocky woman win against her. With all her might, she used her whip to conjure a ring of fire, which wrapped around Samara. She did not look intimidated until the ring of fire shot up, becoming a fiery tornado. Alesa had her trapped, and she could not be more pleased about it.
As she cornered Samara, Nick looked worried when he watched Gabriel escape his watery tomb.
