I Honeymoon Period with the Drug
It's not that I don't listen to
My wife.
It's just that after my tenth coffee,
I'm moving in a time and space continuum
Slightly further ahead of her,
And her voice
Sounds like,
The tick-tock
Of the clock.
II Dependency and Mood Change
I find another imbecile
With the temerity
To be cheerful
In the morning
Before coffee.
I put him on my list
And turn the page.
III At Night
I swivel in bed,
Like a mole
In his tunnel,
Searching for
Juicy worms.
My eyes
Drill holes,
In the moonlight,
Into the ceiling.
No choice
But to
Brew up a fresh pot,
And await the dawn.
