(Quick note, quite a delay on imagines I'll do my best to catch up but school work has gotta come first!

About the imagine: (requested) Reader is given a job at Abstergo industries to discover their ancestry memories, what happens when they fall in love with someone they know they'll never be able to have?

---

It had been over a week now since stepping into the Animus for the first time. I thought Abstergo were exaggerating when they gave me the job, going back in time - well "going through my ancestry memories" but they weren't kidding.

It was insane how far technology has come. As I took the tour around Abstergo Industries main office building, the tour guide explained how they had seen more closer time periods to the 21st century than 48 BCE. I thought it was going to be some messed up test subject job where they stick me with needles and use electro shock therapy on my head once they had taken a sample of my DNA. After the interview they took an interest in me. They sent all the other applicants home straight away and insisted that I followed them right away. They offered to pay me my first month on the first day if I hopped into their machine right away. The whole point of me signing up for this job was because it payed well and my parents had finally kicked me out. I was desperate so I really couldn't say no.

Now here I was.  38 BCE in the middle of Alexandria, Egypt. Wait, how did I know that? They didn't give me any information of this time period before I stepped into the machine, or a map or how to survive this place. But how do I know that if I continue to walk west from where I stood, over the sand dunes,  I'll eventually reach Kyrenaika and Lake Mareotis sat in front of me. It was strange. The people at Abstergo said that I wouldn't be me anymore, I should one of my ancestors that dated all the way back here. However, when I gazed at my reflection in the water of the lake I still had all the features that made me (Y/N). Whether this was normal or not, I couldn't dwell on it. If I wanted to make sure I keep the first month's pay they promised to give me after the first session I had better get to work on what purpose my ancestor had. Thankfully, this didn't take long as my brain was yelling at me to head to a village called Siwa.

I didn't know how I was surviving the heat. It felt like walking across the sun itself. I thought I would end the journey with heatstroke. It took over a day to reach Siwa, crazy how people made journeys like this considering now I could take the bus and be there maybe in an hour. Upon arriving in the village, my brain was screaming at me again. A name. It wanted me to find someone which I assumed that was my ancestor's purpose and followed the path it was taking me. My tracks ended by a small house. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, a simple small building that matched any of the other villager houses here. There was a man standing outside the house and my mind was telling him to ask for the person I was seeking.

"Excuse me." I called out the man as I walked towards him, he immediately looked up at me. "I am looking for someone. A man, Bayek of Siwa?"

I didn't recognise the name itself, neither did my ancestor as I'm sure I would have known what to look out for or at least a description of them. Before the man outside could even speak , another appeared from inside the house. A hood was covering his head and face so I couldn't make out his facial features at all. He took a step towards me and crossed his arms whilst looking me up and down, considering how I wore the same hooded attire he had let down his guard. Something was telling me that this was my man. (Well, myself was telling me this was my man. I keep forgetting I'm psychic now).

"I am Bayek." The man introduced himself to me. "Who are you and why have you come here?"

"I have come asking for your help Bayek of Siwa." I didn't have a chance to say the words at my own pace, they spilled out of me. "I have heard so many things about you."
