An Adventure from Before?

For the next two years, you decided to train to be stronger. Your friends as well trained. Zoro and you couldn't help but remember a certain memory as you both trained though. It was the very first time Zoro ever used his sword to protect you, and the first time you ever suffered a critical injury that made Zoro realize he was in love with you.

It was a hot summer evening and you couldn't help but want nothing more than to go for a late night swim. Zoro would not let you though. "Why not?" He scowled as you whined. "Because we need to find town I generally need a drink." You huffed longing to lay in the cool river water. "I told you wake me when we get to the Island so I can help us get to town, but noo you had to carry me and try to figure it out yourself. Now we're both lost." Zoro sighed frustrated at your words. "I wanted you to rest." You groaned following him as he began walking again. You guys had left home around 2 months ago and had been traveling island to island. The latest one though had nothing but forests. You had told Zoro to wake you so you could navigate, but he chose not too. Another hour had gone by and the heat grew making Zoro even more frustrated, he looked at the small river you guys had been following sighing as he saw you pushing your hair back to help with the heat. "Zoro if you want I can climb the tree? Maybe I can see where the town is?" He nodded not wanting to admit he should've waken you up. You could tell he was frustrated so didn't want to push him. He gave you a boost up as you climbed to the top taking a look around. "Wow...Zoro the town is not even near this river. It's north of here. I'll navigate us." Zoro nodded relieved you found it. "Be careful climbing down!" You nodded before gasping as your foot slipped. "Damn it!" Zoro caught you easily, "Didn't I just say be careful? You klutz." You nodded sheepishly as he put you down. "Okay let's head to town!" Zoro grunted but willing held your hand as you walked. 'She's lucky she's cute.' Zorro thought quietly to himself. He had been seeing you in a different view as of late, but did not want to mention it. 'Damn has she always been this cute?' He let his thoughts slipped as you pulled him. "There!! We made it!" You sighed in relief.

The both of you had headed to the bar happy to be in town. Zoro got himself a drink, he ordered a glass of water for you knowing you were a lightweight. "Careful not to drink too much." He grunted ordering himself food as well. Taking a look around, you noticed the bar was filled with pirates. You've seen them before on wanted posters. Zoro had noticed them the second you walked in and was on guard in case any of them tried anything. He knew the heat would make them more irritable. Deciding to read, you pulled out of one the books Zoro had found for you on the last Island. He knew you liked to see new things and learn about them. This one happened to be a fairytale, you couldn't help but laugh at some of the cliches in it. The cold water helped with the heat. Deep in the book, you didn't notice one of the pirates walking your way. "Hiya lass." He slurred out as you looked up. "You sure are a cute thing care to dance?" He burped loudly making you slightly cringe. "No I'm okay sir I just wanna read." He scowled before leaning down, "Are you sure lass? We don't want any trouble now do we?" You tensed up feeling his hand linger above your thigh, "I'm sure. I really don't want any trouble as well." You bit back moving his hand away. He grunted walking away as you sighed slightly relieved he left. "You good?" You nodded at Zoro's question. Zoro had been ready to move the second the pirate approached. He put his sword away, while you went back to your book. "Hey I'ma go take a leak, wanna come?" Zoro didn't feel safe leaving you alone with the pirates here. "I'm good you go. I promise I'll be fine." He was hesitant but nodded walking off to the restroom. The second he was gone, the pirate from before approached with two of his crew mates, "Didn't I tell you lot she's a looker ain't she?" They smiled nodding. You sighed putting your book down. "Can I help you gentlemen?" They laughed before smiling, "C'mon little lass come dance with us. We can show you a good time." You grimaced smelling the alcohol on their breathes. "As I said before, I'm good." They all scowled as you took a sip of your drink. "We weren't asking." He grabbed your hand roughly. "Come with us now." His crew mates grabbed your other arm roughly. "Screw you. I'm staying right here, my friend will kill me if I'm not here when he returns." "You mean that stupid green haired boy sitting here-" "He's not a boy. He's a man even more of a man than you and your stupid crew. Now please leave me alone." He glared pulling you roughly up, "Do you even know who I am?! I'm Captain Barbossa!!" You quirked your eyebrow before laughing. "I know who you are I just don't care. I'm not interested! Haven't you ever heard the phrase no means no?" The bartender began shaking not wanting any trouble. "Take the trouble outside please." Barbossa nodded making his crew mates drag you. "Wait really?! Your not even gonna call me help?!" The Bartender mouthed an apology to you. You began to kick, struggling to escape their hold. Once outside they laughed pushing to the ground, "Thanks for letting me go I guess-" You gasped as Babossa stood over you ripping your dress. Feeling slightly vulnerable, you crossed your arms glaring as he hungrily stared at you. "Oi what the hell is going on out here?" Zoro angrily approached seeing you cover yourself. Barbossa and his men stared down at you hungrily. Zoro glared helping you up. "You okay?" You nodded angrily. Zoro moved you behind him. "Sorry I was late." Barbossa scowled seeing Zoro pull his swords out. "Do we have a problem here?" His crew mates eyes widened seeing the number of swords on his hip. "Boss those number of swords that's Roronoa Zoro! He's the demon bounty hunter. And we just hassled his women?!" You glared, "I'm not his women! I hate everyone assuming that!!" A small water wave appeared knocking them over. Barbossa quickly raised his hand to attack you, but was stopped instantly by Zoro. "You wanna try that again?" You made a water sword seeing one of his crew mates try to attack Zoro behind. "I'll handle them." Zoro muttered out seeing you try to cover yourself. "I won't let you fight alone idiot!" You pushed back the man with your sword. Zoro immediately took down Barbossa. The men seeing their Captain fall stopped in shock as Zoro put his sword away. "Y/N let's get out of here now." You nodded walking off with your arms crossed to cover yourself. "Let's get you another dress with that guys bounty." You nodded mumbling out a thanks.
