"TSUKISHIMA? WHY DID YOU SLOW DOWN?" Shindo whispered, still hiding behind him

"TSUKISHIMA? WHY DID YOU SLOW DOWN?" Shindo whispered, still hiding behind him. Maki and the familiar girl were now getting closer, and Tsukishima's eyes had glued to the stranger.

Compared to when he saw her Saturday morning, she looked completely different.

Her frizzy, untamed hair? It was now neatly brushed back into a low bun, defining her round head shape. Her face was glowing, her under eye bags that were there a couple days ago, now non-existent.

To go with her short black office skirt and white blouse, a smooth nude lip color was applied to her plump lips, which gave her a more lively look. Her black heels confidently clicked and clacked against the ceramic tile floors, her walk powerful.

She tightly gripped her black briefcase in her right hand as she chatted with Maki, the two women seeming to get along swell.

That's when the womans' eyes drifted past Maki's, and straight to Tsukishima, him and Shindo walking by her.

Everything turned into slow motion, both Tsukishima and the womans' eyes widening as they realized who the other was.

"Tsukki!"

Tsukishima snapped out of his thoughts, stopping in the hall as Shindo came out from hiding. "Why do you look like you've seen a ghost?"

Tsukishima watched as Maki and the new girl disappeared around the corner. "...I saw something worse than a ghost."

. . .

"Tsukishima."

Tsukishima turned in his chair to his advisor, Yato, as he approached his cubicle with a small stack of papers. "I need you to review these when you've got time, okay?"

"Sure, no problem." Tsukishima nodded, Yato dropping the papers by his keyboard.

"Oh, also," Yato turned to the cubicle placed next to Tsukishima's, placing his hand on the back of the empty desk chair. "You're gonna get a partner!"

"...Partner? For?"

"Being the assistant for the CEO is a butt load of work, yeah?" Yato smiled, pointing a finger gun at Tsukishima.

"...A little bit, I guess."

"Well, with a partner, the two of you will be working together to assist Mr.Hashimada." Yato waved goodbye to Tsukishima as he left the cubicle. "They should be here in a few!"

Tsukishima watched as Yato greeted his other co-workers in the room, before turning back to his desktop. "...A partner? I don't need that." He murmured, digging his heels into the floor and dragging his chair closer to his desk.

As he filled out a spreadsheet he was working on, he suddenly smelled a faint, sweet scent in the room. He felt a person walk behind him, stopping only a few feet away from his desk.

That's when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a hand grab the back of the rolling chair that was in the neighboring cubicle.

He turned to see who it was, thinking it would be Shindo, as he frequently visited Tsukishima's cubicle to procrastinate on work. But as he turned, he saw Shindo standing across the room, using the copier while he scrolled on his phone. So...who was this?

Tsukishima looked up, his heart immediately dropping from his chest to the bottom of his stomach, his eyes shooting open.

It was the woman from the bookstore, her pitch black eyes scowling him. Her brows had dropped, like she was extremely disappointed to see who she would be working with. "..."

"..."

"..."

"...You're kidding..."

"..." She sighed, pulling out the desk chair and sitting in it, placing her briefcase on top the empty desk.

"...You're my partner?"

"Obviously. That's why I'm sitting here!" She cheered, giving her signature half-assed smile, before her face fell flat and her lips formed a line.

"Yknow, you're quite childish for an adult." Tsukishima gritted through his teeth, his left eye twitching.

"Says the man who tried to wrestle me for a manga."

"I had it first."

"Did you? Because I think I'm the one who bought it."

She turned to him with a small smirk, only making Tsukishima even more pissed. "Mr.Hashimada really hired someone like you to be his assistant?"

"Indeed he did. Can't believe someone like you gets to work for him, either."

"You've gotta be kidding me." He muttered, rubbing his temples and leaning back in his chair.

"You mighta been here longer than me, but I'm gonna be sure to work ten times harder than you." She assured, logging into the computer on her desk. "Now if you'll excuse me I have work to do, Blondie."

"Its Tsukishima Kei."

"...L/n Y/n. It's such a pleasure to meet you!" She piped, clearly faking it again.

"You've got the worst attitude for a woman, yknow."

"How should women act, then?"

"Nicer than how you do."

"If my attitude makes you so upset..." She turned to him, her eyebrows falling. "...then make me change it."
