When Number Eight woke up she saw white chalk all over the walls. They were a bunch of equations. She then saw Five standing on a stool.
"What are you doing?" She asked, rubbing her eyes and stretching.
"One second, Doll." He shushed, still scribbling on the wall.
Y/n walked over to Five and watched him write on the wall. She had no idea what he was doing, so she went and sat at his desk.
"I think I've got something, its tenuous but promising.." Five muttered, dusting his hands off.
She got up and read the four names, she saw that they were all innocent people and sighed, "How convenient,"
Five gave a puzzled look.
"They're all innocent and - oh my god, isn't he a gardener?" She pointed at the list.
Before Five could argue Luther came through the door, "What is all this?" He asked, pointing to the chalk on the walls.
Y/n then pointed at Five.
"Its a probability map." Five explained.
"Probability of what?" Luther asked, stepping closer into the room.
"Of who's death could save the world," Five told him.
"He's narrowed it down to four." Y/n mumbled, sitting back down at the desk.
"Are you saying that one of these people cause the apocalypse?" Luther asked.
"Nope." Y/n stated, turning to face Luther, "Apparently their death might prevent it." She chuckled.
"Oh . . ." Luther mumbled.
"You're not following are you?" Y/n asked him.
Luther shook his head.
"Time is fickle through the slightest alterations of events can lead to massively different outcomes in the space time continuum, the butterfly effect. So all I have to do is find the people with the greatest probability of impacting the time, whoever they may be, and kill them." Five implied, putting his chalk back.
"Milton Green . . . So is he a terrorist or something?" Luther asked, squinting to read the writing.
"Yeah, he's killed countless people and bombed a hospital." Y/n lied quickly. She knew that Luther wouldn't like the idea of killing the innocent.
"You said he was a gardener." Five shrugged, "And good morning by the way."
"Good morning." She smiled, "But, Luther isn't gonna like what you just said."
Number One whipped his head in Five's direction, "You can't be serious . . . Five . . This is madness. What, where did you get that?" He asked as Five stood up with a sniper rifle.
"Dad's room. I think he used it to shoot a rhino. Similar to the one I used a work . . . Nice shoulder fit . . . Highly reliable." The Boy informed, cocking the gun.
Y/n blinked and flinched slightly. It was just an instinct. Five looked at her to say something but Luther beat him to it, "And you're just gonna let him do this?" He asked her in disbelief.
"It wasn't my most favourable option." She admitted, "But this moron knows more about saving the world then I do." She shrugged and pointed to The Boy.
"Five, you can't . . This guy Milton, he's just an innocent man." Luther pleaded, looking back at his brother.
"It's basic math." Y/n sighed, standing up, "His death could potentially save the lives of billions of people."
"And if I did nothing he'd be dead in four days anyway. The apocalypse won't spare anyone." Five agreed defensively.
"We don't do this kind of thing." Luther hissed.
"We aren't doing anything. I am." Five snarled, getting angrier with every word Luther spoke.
"I can't just let you kill innocent people Five, no matter how many lives you save." Number One insisted angrily.
"Well, good luck stopping me." Five spat as he started for the door.
Y/n got up to follow Five out of the room.
"You're not going anywhere, Five." Luther snapped, grabbing the girls neck, and holding her out the window.
Five spun around and pointed the gun at Luther.
"Put her down." he growled through gritted teeth.
"It's either her or the gun."
Y/n swung her feet trying to reach the ladder below her, "Five, don't." She panted.
"I know she's important to you so don't make me do it." Luther told the boy.
Five hadn't lowered his gun at all, he had a harsh glare set on Luther.
"He won't do it Five, it's not worth-" but before she could finish her sentence Luther had tightened the grip on her neck. Her throat throbbed with pain, it was still sore from the chains and everything. She would use her powers, but she was in way to much pain. Five still didnt lower his gun or his harsh glare.
"Fine." Luther shrugged.
He let go of the girls neck, she was free falling out the window. Her arms made attempts to catch herself on the ladder but nothing.
"No!" Five yelled.
He dropped the gun and spacial jumped to the ladder, he seized the collar of the girl's shirt. He quickly warped them both back inside and onto the bed. Five was still holding her shoulders and she was staring right back at him. A single tear rolled from her eye and that's when The Boy pulled her into his arms.
"I could do this all day." Luther stated.
"Bitch." Y/n whispered under her breath.
Five held her tight and put his chin on her head.
"I know your a good person, Five, otherwise you wouldn't have risked everything to come back and save us all . . . But you're not alone anymore." Luther told him, taking the bullets from out of the gun.
"Y/n I'm sorry-"
"You don't get to be sorry." Y/n cut Luther off, wiping a stray tear on her sleeve.
"She's right." Five agreed.
"Well, this wasn't what I wanted to do. But there has to be another way other than killing Milton." Luther sighed.
"There is another way but it's about impossible." Five muttered.
"More impossible than what got you guys back here?" Luther asked.
Five looked down at y/n, but she had already stood up and rubbed her neck in pain. Five shot daggers at Luther with his eyes.
"Five?" Y/n asked.
"Come on, I'll tell you in the car." Five insisted, ushering her out the door.
