"I under...shtand. L-Let's go to the English." I write out everything as I speak. "I have-"

"You know, you just said 'Let's go to the English' instead of movies." I jump when I hear my dad walk into the room. "Movies and English are very similar. But remember that English ends with an O and movies with an A."

(A/N: Eigo is English and Eiga is movies

"Ahhh," I tap my chin, quickly writing that down in my notes. "Thank you, Otō-San!" I grin.

His eyes widen and he practically flings himself across the room to pick me up and hug him, spinning around in a circle.

"You learned that? When did you learn that? You're studying so well!" He exclaims happily.

"I don't understand!" I giggle, holding onto him so I don't fall.

He sets me down after a bit and beams at me.

"I said you're studying very well. Should we go shopping? Huh? We can go shopping because you're learning very quickly!" He already starts to head towards the door but I quickly go in front of him, shaking my head.

"No, no. Mom already said you shouldn't go shopping when you're this excited." I laugh. "And I bought clothes the other day, so I'm fine."

Ueno Shin sighs, nodding in defeat.

"Alright, alright. I'm going to go meet your mother now. Please make sure to clean up before you go to bed later. Okay?" He raises an eyebrow.

"Okay!" I smile.

We say our goodbyes and I sit back on the floor near the pile of books and workbooks I bought to help me study.

Sometimes Ueno Shin is strict. But if there's anything I learned, it's that speaking Japanese to him makes him go soft.

I look at the books around me, wondering what I should start with. Maybe I should practice my hiragana and katakana. I've barely managed to memorize them all, so I should keep practicing in order to not forget them.

Actually, I had already memorized them, but then forgot them because I stopped studying for a while. It was such a pain learning them all again.

"Ka...a...to...ah, this one is ga?" I flip the card around, happy I got it right. Dakuten is a little bit hard for me because I forget sometimes which letter it changes to.

As I practice, I see a familiar person walk by outside of my window. Oh, there's actually 2 familiar people. They stop and start looking at my house.

I quickly stand up, running to the door and slipping on my shoes before walking outside.

"Can I help you?"

"Oh, no sorr-" Tsukishima starts, but when his eyes land on me he looks a bit surprised. "You live here?"

"I'm going to be honest with you, I barely learned that phrase. But I have no idea what you just said." I say, laughing. "Hi Yamaguchi-Kun, Tsukishima-Kun" I bow.

"Hello! Eva-San." Yamaguchi bows back, Tsukishima just giving a small nod.

"We were just stopping to admire the house. We didn't know you live here." Tsukishima says, looking a bit embarrassed.

"Your house very nice!" Yamaguchi holds a thumbs up.

A small laugh escapes my lips and I walk over to them.

"Thank you. Um, my dad...um. He got it before we moved here. So we haven't been here long." I switch to English mid sentence, not confident enough to try to speak more.
