TIME JUMP TO LATE JUNE

Ana Martinez

It was the week of the trip. Funnily enough, I hadn't spoken to the boys since the party. I hope I didn't embarrass myself too much.

I missed Ben. We hadn't spoken in ages, he'd ignored me for ages. I don't remember much from that night and haven't drank alcohol at all since. Lia's not said a lot to Luke which is weird seeing as they are constantly talking to each other. I wonder what happened between them that night?

I'm hoping this trip will change everything.

3 am. My mum and I were currently driving to pick up Lia, it was way too early for this. Lia didn't live too far from us so we were constantly giving her lifts as her parents were always busy working and never really made time for her. Same as Luke, maybe that's why they are constantly bickering, cause that's the only time they get any recognition.

I've always been good at languages, I guess because I'm Spanish I can pick up similar languages quickly. Ben's pretty good too and Lia. Luke on the other hand...yeah, no. We pulled up to Lia's house and she scuttled out her house with her suitcase, but before she could get into the car my mum got out and hugged her tight. Just like Ben, Lia has always been like another child to my mum. I hopped out the car, already anticipating mum wanting to get a picture of us two. She was constantly posting 10 year time gap pictures of me and Lia on her Facebook.

Me and Lia did our classic pose, a peace sign and a middle finger. My mum just laughed, she thought Lia was way funnier than I ever could be. I didn't mind though, their relationship only made me and Lia even closer.

"Aw girls I'm gonna miss you." Mum cooed, making pouty faces.

"We're gonna miss you too Carol!!" Lia rushed to hug her as I joined, creating a cute huddle of penguins.

"Alright, alright girls let's get into the car or else i'm never going to be able to let you go" she jokes whilst breaking away from our hug.

The car was filled with excitement, whilst looking out the window I thought to myself that this was gonna be a great trip, I just felt it in my heart. After the awful, british weather we had this summer I think we were all ready to soak up some sun in fresh Italy.

We finally made it to the school and to no surprise found we were the last to arrive. I tried to quickly light jog to the coach, but I was stopped by my mum pulling me back.

"Oo one sec darling, Karen's here I just want to go say hello." She gestured, insinuating that I had to come too. This was going to be awkward. I flashed my eyes to Lia in hopes of some help but she just sent me a wry smile.

"I'm gonna go get us a seat at the back" She announced before disappearing into the coach. Wow thanks a lot.

I anxiously slugged behind my mother waiting for the discomfort I was about to experience. Ben was avoiding eye contact with me. Why was he being so weird? What did I do? Ugh I'd have to ask Lia, she always remembers my drunk shenanigans.

Karen whipped her head around, shifting her long wavy bob.

"Hiya luv" She chimed. I have no idea how mums keep up this act all the time. I mean it was bloody 3am after all. I was barely awake. They exchanged kisses on each cheek.

"Let's get a picture for the gram eh?" My mum cringely suggested.

"Never say that ever again." I muttered through my gritted teeth. My mum rolled her eyes with a smile and slapped me on the back jokingly.

Karen nodded, thrilled by the idea of any way to embarrass her son.

"Alright you two, get together" She waved her hands in a shooing motion. To avoid awkwardness I stood almost a foot away from Ben.
