Newt couldn't bring himself to approach you, to talk through it, to rekindle what was lost. But you could. You had spent an entire year thinking about him, and you weren't about to forget everything that happened. So you got Thomas to get Newt alone for you, so you didn't have prying ears listening to an important conversation. You spoke first, but that was all Newt needed to express the truth, everything he felt and was still feeling. He apologized endlessly despite not needing to, and promised that he never forgot about you or gave up. It wasn't until you said it, that he finally admitted it out loud.
