"Mom, I need a phone."

"I need a phone."

"Why? You never wanted one before. . ."

Kwensi shrugged and tried to play it normal. "Well, I want one now. I guess it would just feel right, you know?"

His mom studied him, debating on what she would do. Kwensi grew nervous, like horror movie I-Just-Heard-A-Noise-Downstairs nervous.

Then, after what felt like ions, she nodded her head. "Okay, I'll get you a phone."

Kwensi jumped for joy and hugged her tightly. "Thank you, ma." He pulled away. "So, when will you get it?"

She sat down on a swirly chair by the table island. "I'll get you a phone by. . . The beginning of next week."

And Kwensi didn't complain.
