The So-Distant Heaven

The never-changing stars glowed in the dark sky. Heaven; a sacred place where no humans appeared. An ideal place where I might continue in undisturbed eternity. I extended my hand towards it.

An impossible dream.

One solitary star lost its course. Life had bored it. Willingly leaving those dull companions, it banished itself.

I followed the fall until my arm hit the soft grass.

"Can't the same happen? To live alone. To exist aside from them."

"You reap benefits from the premature death of others? Humans are as cruel as said."

A blond man had come. Fiery blue burnt in his brilliant eyes.

"If you intend to throw everything away, I'd advise selling it. For a proper price, I can sever your connection with the distasteful humanity. May we negotiate?"

He offered a business card. 'Evangelos. An angel.'
