"Good morning!"

He was disgustingly cheerful. No reply for him. I stood by the exit, keeping my distance.

"I am Raphael! And you?"

Our lives crossed only for that dull day. Why should I answer?

"Say something. We both dread it, but the silence is crushing me. How you are so calm?"

I should fear it?

"Just your name, please! One word."

"Ciel." Would he stop talking? I scowled. Because of people like him, I wanted to abandon humanity.

"Elegant. Heavenly." He smiled and offered me a handshake. "That's a start, is it not?"

"Never." I glanced at the large office door. "Why is he taking so much time?"

"Maybe because he wants us to reflect on our terrible choice."

"I would not change it."

"The same. Beggars can't be choosers."

What did he mean?

"Ouch, sour face. Sorry! But once we fall so low, we lose all other options."

"Low?"

He nodded. Brown locks covered his tender eyes. "How else would you call a person who will sell their soul?"
