Lighter

TMI SPOILERS!

A/N Set just as Jonathon is dying in City of Heavenly Fire and is in his mother's lap. Perspective of Jonathon as well.

I see green eyes looking into mine

The tears threatening to spill

The look of disgust and love

All mixed together in pity

Her ginger hair dangles above me

Her lower lip trembles and 

She takes my hand in hers

My sister

I want to tell her not to pity

But her eyes speak for all as she cries

My sister whom I needed to protect

Weeps as she holds my dying body

Only now through a pane of glass

Do I see my past actions

As clear as water

And I know I have sinned

My sins are greater than the oceans

Taller than the mountains

And yet now as life leaves me

I feel a new beginning

At least now my dark side is gone

At least now my eyes are green

And my heart pure

But my hands are still covered in blood

And I know I shouldn't ask for forgiveness

But I look at the sky above me and say

'I have sinned and though you may not forgive me, 

I feel as light as a feather and I keep growing lighter.'
