They had been aboard the Black Pearl for a few days now, Elizabeth leading the course with the compass in her hands. She had given (Y/n) the letters of Marque to look over... after she had been slightly threatened with a sword by her friend. They were for Jack, and so she wanted to see exactly what the letters said. Elizabeth knew no harm would come to her, but gave up the letters. Her friend was becoming more and more a pirate as each day passed. As (Y/n) was looking at them, the ringed hand of Jack Sparrow came and snatched them from her grasp.
"Hey! Jack!" (Y/n) yelled at him as he kept them out of her reach.
"These letters of Marque are to go to me, are they not?" he asked, and looked at the signature. Elizabeth and Gibbs had joined the two of them. "Beckett." Jack read.
"Beckett?!" Gibbs repeated.
"Yes, they're signed. Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company." Elizabeth stated.
"Bleh." Jack stuck his tongue out in disgust at the name.
"Will was workin' for Beckett and never said a word." Gibbs said, then turned to (Y/n). "You were workin' for Beckett!"
"To procure my freedom from the noose, Mr. Gibbs, as well as Elizabeth's!" she defended herself.
"Ahh" Jack groaned, this time without his tongue. He thought over this new information. (Y/n) had been working for Beckett? The rotter would only use Jack's weaknesses to his advantages, and he was soon coming to the realization that the (h/c) girl next to him was a new weakness Beckett could exploit.
"Beckett wants the compass. Only one reason for that." Gibbs said.
"Of course. He wants the chest." Jack concluded.
"Yes he did say something about a chest." Elizabeth said.
Jack looked to (Y/n) and said, "You were working for Beckett this whole time and didn't bother to divulge that information?" He was slightly mad, and slightly hurt at the same time.
"Jack, I didn't know what he wanted. We were only told to get your compass and then we would be free." she stated.
"If the company controls the chest, they controls the sea." Gibbs muttered.
"A truly discomforting notion." Jack added.
"And bad. Bad for every mother's son what calls himself a pirate!" Gibbs looked up into the sails and said, "I think there's a bit more speed to be coaxed from these sails. Brace the foreyard!" With that, he ran off, leaving Elizabeth, (Y/n) and Jack. Elizabeth looked between them and turned away.
"I've been told Thomas went back to London. I guess that means you broke it off. Good job, (Y/n)." Elizabeth said before she left, the girl slightly smirking as she walked away.
"Oh... right..." (Y/n) thought about her former fiancé.
"Thomas? Who's Thomas?" Jack asked quickly.
"No one." she answered quickly. Jack, however, wasn't buying her answer.
"What did you break off?"
"Well... I was engaged-"
"What?!" Jack shouted. "How were you engaged?"
"Why would you care? Unless you're jealous that someone else was going to marry me?" (Y/n) played. She thought in her head this wasn't true, but Jack was secretly fuming with jealousy, something he was not accustomed to.
"Of course I'm not! Why would I be? Just surprised, is all!" Jack claimed, turning around, but there was more to it.
"Surprised, ya, sure... Captain..." she whispered in his ear. Jack was holding it all in, waiting for the opportune moment to pounce. He decided to tip the scales in his direction.
