Prologue- Part 2: The Ceremony

~Meanwhile~

Preparations were complete! Chiron stood in front of the ceremonial arena. It was a circular stage: which had an arch of 14 thrones (for the gods) on one side, and rows of seating (for the demigods) on the other.

As dusk arrived, the campers filed in, taking their seats, with the Heroes of Olympus seated at the front. Once everyone was seated, Chiron glanced over at the seats, something was wrong. He could feel it. But before Chiron could do anything, the Olympians (Hades and Hestia among them- they were Olympians now as well) appeared in a flash of light and took their seats!
Then it hit him. As the demigods murmured to each other and bustled in their seats, Chiron noticed the 2 empty seats in the front row “Where,” The centaurs voice instantly attracted all attention to the stage on which Chiron now stood- “Are Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase?” The murmurs and whispers of conversation began again, until someone else spoke “I will go check their cabins” Nico di Angelo whispered, yet his vice evoked silence even amongst the gods. And the boy vanished into the shadows. Chiron glanced over at the gods, sharing a concerned look with them, before the son of Hades appeared again.

“Chiron” Nico said, as he held up a note for the centaur to take “They weren’t there, but this was!”
Chiron took the note, opened it, and began to read
“Dear Camp Half-blood, and the gods, and anyone else reading/hearing this. Me and Annabeth are leaving. Don’t try to find us, because you will fail, anyone you send after us will be sent back. We are leaving for reasons we won’t mention, as it will ruin the summer of a certain 2 campers sitting among you. We will not name them. We refuse to be the gods’ pawns anymore! From Percy and Annabeth”

The crowd exploded! Into chatter, demands, and questions “Who are they?”, “Why would they leave?”, “It’s a trick!”, “They wouldn’t leave!”, “Who betrayed them?”
“Enough!” Zeus’ voice instantly silenced everyone “We must carry on, and this shall be dealt with later.” “But brother” Poseidon replied at the same time that Athena spoke “But Father” They glared at each other for a second, then continued: Poseidon saying “What of my son?”; Athena saying “What of my daughter?” in unison. They glared at each other again! “They will be found and returned here after the ceremony has ended.”

The ceremony commenced, and all of the heroes (Leo, Frank, Hazel, Piper, Jason, Will, and Nico) were all offered partial immortality, and they accepted. And so, they couldn’t die of old age, and would serve as warriors to the gods whenever needed.

(A/N: Hey guys I can’t figure out how to put this in here, but Reyna joined the Hunters of Artemis, and Hazel took her place as Praetor, like in Trials of Apollo)

And so the search began. But as the duo promised, even the gods could not locate Perseus Jackson or Annabeth Chase. They had disappeared without a trace!
