This is a quick recap for those who didn't read the last chapter:

You learn about Miss Tia's past and how her kids and boyfriend were killed by Malcolm. She can't leave the city ever and meets Janova, a couple of months after her children's death. She and Nova get close and become like mother and daughter. Malcolm and Ash are still assholes. After the flashback, Nova finds out that her bike is missing so she has to carry all the bags home. She hears shouting and decides to investigate it. Turns out, it's the thug from earlier and his buddies, picking a fight with the old man. Janova defends him and unlocks her elemental power. She burns the thug's hand off using her elemental power, supernova and freaks out. The old man seemed unfazed and laughed it off. He invites her to join a ninja team but she declined his offer because she didn't trust him at first. He gives her a proposition. If she uses the pepper spray, she has to meet him at the fountain at 11:00 p.m. She takes the deal and they part ways.
