Chapter: 6

The Next Morning.

Wanda slowly awoke from her sleep. The early morning sky shining through the window slightly lighting up the room. She looked over at the nightstand at the side of the bed to read a digital clock to see the time was 5:36AM. She also noticed that she was in bed alone and Peter was gone. She sat up in the bed looking around. She slowly pulled the blanket off her and stepped out of bed. Her body shivered as her bare feet hit the cold wooden floor. She looked around the room when she heard someone talking from outside the bedroom. She slowly moved over to the door to hear what was being said. “So you let the famous Scarlet Witch stay here?” May said given Peter a cheeky little smirk. She was sat across the kitchen table from Peter drinking a cup of coffee. She had just comeback from work and was extremely tried but when she saw Peter was awake she decided to have a chat with him before heading to bed. “It's not like that May. We just have to be at the compound early and I didn't think her driving to and from Westview so early would be a good idea so I asked her to here tonight” Peter explained drinking his coffee. “Yeah but... you still slept in the bed?” May now given a devilish smirk teasing him to which Peter rolled his eyes in response. “You know I recall a certain spider use to have a crush on Scarlet Witch” May said. Wanda's eye's winded hearing that. She had her head almost pressed to the door waiting to hear more. “I mean yeah... when I was in highschool. It was just a silly crush!” Peter said. Peter did have a crush on Wanda before he became Spider-Man and even when they fought on opposite sides at the airport but Peter just thought that was just some silly highschool type crush however after the previous night of him opening up to her, holding her hand and sleeping next to her that crush like feeling was still there. Maybe Peter needed to expect it that he didn't just have a silly crush on her and maybe admit that he actually may have feelings for her. “whatever you say...” She said playfully. “though it wouldn't hurt for you to meet someone... you haven't been with anyone since your prom date with that girl... um what was her name again?” May asked trying to think of that girls name. “Liz... her name was Liz.... and we know how that ended” Peter looked down thinking about that. “Peter... you can't blame yourself for that and you shouldn't allow yourself to think you don't deserve love” May said trying to cheer Peter up. He looked up to her given a small smile. “look I'm going to get some rest it's been a long night.... and be safe on this mission okay” She said standing up and placing a soft kiss on his head. “sleep well May”  Peter said as may left to her to her room closing the door behind her. As Peter was rubbing his eye's Wanda stepped out of his room. He looked to her. “morning Wanda, want some coffee and a bite to eat?” Peter said triedley as he stood up from the table. “I'd love some...thank you” Wanda said shyly still still processing the fact Peter use to have a crush on her. She sat down in the spot where May was sat and Peter came over placing a cup of coffee and a plate of toast in front of her. “Thanks... so.... sleep well?” She asked taken a bite of her toast. “Yeah... you?” Peter asked sitting down across from her. “Yeah I did thanks.... so I um... Might have heard May say something that caught my attention” Wanda said and Peter's eye's widen trying not to cough out the last bit of coffee he had in his mouth. “wh.. what did you hear?” He asked almost worried. “Just something about a girl called Liz.... was she your Girlfriend?” Wanda asked. Peter felt a little eased knowing she wasn't talking about his crush on Wanda but still confused as to why she asked about Liz. “uh... No.. she was just a prom date” said Peter. “What happened?... I heard you say something about it ended badly... it's ok if you don't want to talk about it I was just curi...” Wanda was cut off by Peter. “No..no..no It's fine just.... look a long story short. I ditched her at homecoming prom to go stop a vulture guy from stealing a load of Avengers tech. Thing is that vulture guy was her dad. I stopped him and he was arrested but she had to move away. Thanks to me her parent's got divorced, her dad went to prison and she had to move away leaving her life here behind.... all while her last highschool memory here was being ditched at the prom.... I ruined that girls life” Peter looked down resting his arm on the table. He always felt guilty for what he did to Liz and for destroying her life here. It's why Peter felt he shouldn't date anyone as he feared that being Spider-Man would only ruin there lives or worse end it. Suddenly Peter felt a hand grab his own hand and looked up to Wanda was holding his hand from across the table. “Peter I know I don't know you all that well but what I do know is that you'd never do anything to hurt or destroy someone's life. What happened to Liz was on her father and not you so please don't blame yourself for that...” she gave him a little smile which made him smile and he did his best to stop himself from blushing. At that moment all Peter could think of was the fact he was holding hands with the most beautiful women he had ever seen and only wanted this moment to last forever but that's when the good old Parker luck kicked in as his watch beeped on his wrist. “Shit... we should get ready ... I'll leave you get dressed first” Wanda nodded and stood up heading into his bedroom to put her clothes on. Peter meanwhile grabbed his backpack and stuffed his Spider-Man suit in it. ‘better pack some fresh clothes with me just incase’ he thought and grabbed Uncle Ben's old suitcase from the closet in the living room. Wanda stepped out of his room now dressed in her clothes. “I'll go down and wait for you in the car” she gave a quick smile to Peter and left the apartment. Peter entered his room to get changed. Once dressed Peter started packing some clothes to change on this trip. He also packed extra clothes of his for Wanda since they were the same size. He was all packed and ready to leave when he stopped and looked at his desk seeing the glasses case Tony left from him. Peter really hadn't had chance to check out the glasses. He picked up the case and slipped it into his hoodie pocket before picking up his bags and leaving to meet Wanda in her car. They were sat in salience as Wanda drove while Peter sat in the passenger seat. He pulled out the case from his pocket and looked at it. “What's that?” Wanda asked quickly taken a glance before looking back at the road in front of her while Peter opened the case. “Tony left these for me” he said placing the glasses on. “How do I look?” He asked looking to Wanda. She looked to him seeing him now wearing a pair of glasses. She thought he looked cute but wouldn't admit it out loud to him. “you look.... handsome” She smiled then looked back at the road. Peter slightly blushed hearing what Wanda said. He sat back in his seat when a female voice came out of nowhere as the glasses lit up. “Stand by for retinal and biometric scan. Retinal and biometric scan accepted.” Peter and Wanda seemed confused by it. “what the?.... Hello?” Peter asked trying to get a response. “Hello, Peter. I am E.D.I.T.H., Tony Stark's augmented-reality security and defense system.” The voice said now Peter understanding what this voice was. “So, he made you for me?” Peter asked. “No. But you have access to all of Tony's protocols.” EDITH said. “oh..um... cool” Peter was processing all of it. “E.D.I.T.H. stands for “Even dead, I’m the hero.” Tony loves his acronyms.” Hearing that made me Peter chucked as thought about Tony. “I have access to the entire Stark Global Security network including multiple defense satellites as well as back does to all major telecommunication networks.” Before Peter could check out all of EDITH's features he noticed they were now driving up the path to the compound. He took the glasses off and placed them into the case and then into his backpack. While most of the compound had been rebuilt a lot of it was still under construction. Wanda parked the car and they saw Fury and Hill waiting for them in a quinjet. “I guess this is it” Wanda said looking to Peter. He looked to her and nodded to her before getting out the car. The two of them walked to the Jet peter holding his suitcase and his backpack. Fury looked at his watch when he saw the two young Avengers approaching. “6:54am.... well done on actually being on time” Fury said and Wanda rolled her eye's. “where's Beck?” Wanda asked crossing her arms. “He'll meet out there” Maria said before walking to the pilots seat. “and where is there?” Peter asked. “Venice....now let's get moving” Fury said steeping into the Jet. Peter and Wanda took one last quick glance at each other before they both boarding the quinjet. The engine's roaring into life as the bay door closed. The jet took off as they made there way to Venice.
