STUDYING WAS A SENSITIVE TOPIC FOR YOU. Along with homework, pop quizzes and tests, big tests. Tests so big that you were running down the busy street of the Hidden Leaf village, dashing past bustling crowds of unsuspecting civilians in search for your friend. It was a beautiful day today, perfect for a monologue about all the things you could do in it. But right you couldn't care less about the clear skies and chirping birds because tomorrow was about to be the day you failed as a ninja. Tomorrow was a day with one of those big tests.

So, what do you do when you're cursed with the attention span of a 5 year old and a deadline for tomorrow? You, instead of staring at your revision books like they were enchanted with evil spirits, decided run to the best genjutsu specialist you knew.

"SARAAADAAA!!!" You knocked frantically on the door to her apartment, your heart pounding from such a run. It took you a good few minutes to get here, and if the world was on your side today, she would be home revising like the good little protege she is. She had to be home, there was nobody else in the village who knew more about genjutsu then she did—she was an Uchiha after all, and they're blessed with eyes that specialise in that kind of crazy-complicated stuff!

From what you could recall, you believed it was called a sharingan. The first time you laid eyes on them, you were captivated with its beauty, along with the overwhelming power that radiated from those blood red irises. Sarada was kind enough to tell you all about it, from how it worked to when she got it— even about it's weaknesses. She trusted you with that information, and you were grateful for that. Heck, even a little flustered about it. You were known to be quite...unpopular, so to have someone believe in you enough to disclose such information was a new, nice experience.

It took a few seconds. And in those long seconds you contemplated knocking again, more harder, more desperate— anything for a response. And when you finally got one, the sound of a door slowly creaking open snapped you awake.

Sarada was dressed in a pair of baggy trousers and a white vest; It was a drastic change from the usual, up-tight clothes she'd normally wear. She tilted her signature red glasses up, puzzled "(Y/N)? What are you doing here?"

You clasped your hands together and bowed your head before pleading "Please could you help me revise for the test tomorrow!" Sarada looked a little bewildered at first, but after watching you beg at her feet so desperately, she sighed, a defeated expression of her own creeping upon her face.

"Alright, but knowing how easily distracted you get..." She folded her arms "You must promise to do as I say while we revise— this is so no time gets wasted!" Your mouth pressed into a straight line— it didn't want you to promise something that you probably couldn't keep. I mean, doing exactly as she said? You were the class clown, the 'I can't keep my eyes on the board for three minutes' kid. You'd probably find yourself playing with one of her plushies or goofing with her spare reading glasses. (The last time you tried them on you looked like a librarian) But that was when you remembered about the test tomorrow- you had to do this, unless you wanted a beating from your parents for failing another test.

"Okay...I promise to do as you say, Sarada!" A single nervous drop of sweat ran down your forehead as you shook hands for the promise. For once in your life you had to suppress that urge to monkey around, if that was even possible...What have you gotten yourself into?...

"So technically a squirrel and a banana are related!"

"(Y/N), what did I say about unnecessary questions?"

"Technically that's a fact..."

"Technically you're not doing as I say!" Sarada slammed the textbook shut with frustration. Thirty minutes had passed since she agreed to take you on as her student, and you were already on the verge of breaking the promise. She really wanted to help you, but she was finding it difficult with your constant irrelevant questions— and the fact that you couldn't get through the first chapter without commenting on how complicated the hand signs were.

Sarada sighed "This is going nowhere"

You watched as the girl rose to her feet. The two of you were previously laying on her bedroom floor, surrounded by books that held the basics of the Jutsu. It was a comfy setup, especially with how relaxed Saradas presence made you feel. But perhaps that was what was making you a little too comfortable. Guilty, you rubbed the back of your head "Sorry Sarada, I didn't mean to upset you" But that was when Sarada pulled you to your feet. "I accept your apology, but I think I found out what the problem with you and studying is."

Your face lit up with joy at her statement. You knew she was the right person to turn to! She always had a keen, analytical eye that was perfect for solving problems! "Really? What is it Sarada?"

Sarada pulled a prideful smirk and pointed at you "You're a visualiser!"

"...a" you blinked twice "...what?"

The young Uchiha adjusted her red glasses "You're a visualiser, that means you don't learn by simple textbook methods" She formed the Jutsu sign and her eyes began glowing a dull red "-You prefer to learn through experience"

Suddenly, Saradas once large black eyes spiralled. Crimson seeped into them, and at that moment your heart set a flutter. "Y-Your sharingan!" You stuttered, stricken with their beauty once more.

Sarada nodded her head "Mhm, and I'm going to teach you how to use Genjutsu with it." It took a while for Sarada to adjust to everything being so clear, but once she did, she gestured for you to copy her. You, hesitant in embarrassing yourself, formed the Jutsu sign with a worried smile. She was correct with you being more of a visualiser than a text-book student, but that didn't mean you wanted to fail miserably. But at the same time, you knew the downside to her sharingan. It absorbed large amounts of chakra, and for her to go so far to help you learn was truly heartwarming.

So you tried to follow her orders as fast as you could. With each order and practice of the hand signs, you were sure to be extra attentive. And somehow, with the influence of her chakra and guidance, you were starting to get the hang of it.

"Great, now make sure to direct all your chakra to your eyes." You nodded and closed your eyes. Focusing, you felt your chakra points shift. With a determined grin, you redirected the flow to focus on your eyes. It was incredibly difficult at first, but once you were confident you got it right, you opened them.

Sarada, who was patiently waiting in front of you, suddenly stumbled backwards when locking gaze with you. You managed to catch her just in time for there to be any serious injury, but you were still surprised nevertheless. "Sarada? Did it work?"

The young girl, once comfortable with her balance, readjusted her glasses, startled "It...it did!" A large, stupid grin curled up your lips in response to those words. You did it! You actually did it!

With your hands still around Saradas waist, you danced goofily around the girls room, rejoicing like the silly kid you are "I did it! I learnt how to do genjutsu!" Sarada couldn't help but laugh along with you. After hours of practice, it finally worked! How could she not be happy? No harm was done either because luckily she had her Sharingan to deflect the genjutsu. That didn't mean she couldn't feel it as it hit her though, and that surge of chakra was what caused her to stumble with her step and fall into your arms.

Sarada blushed a little at the memory, and even now as you carelessly danced. It felt good to help someone, and it felt even better to do it with a friend. "Thank you Sarada! You're the best teacher I could've ever asked for!" That was when you suddenly drew the girl into a long, tight hug. For you it was a simple gesture of gratitude, a silly move in the entourage of your happiness, but Sarada couldn't help but see it as something more. She was embarrassed, and mostly because she was never praised so much before.

Pride swelled in her heart as she watched you sing "Im not going to fail!" At the top of your lungs. Perhaps she could have you come over more, she liked your company— it was different from the prim and proper lifestyle she lived. (Honestly it was rather refreshing)

"Well, if you ever need help with studying, you can come to me" Sarada began picking up the text books from the floor and placing them back in their rightful places. What she didn't expect was for you to stop her by holding her hand

"Sarada...I need a lot of help with studying"
