"Yoshiki! You need to talk to your daughter! I swear to God if I get one more bit of back cheek from her, she'll regret the day she was born to me!"

"Yoshiki! You need to talk to your daughter! I swear to God if I get one more bit of back cheek from her, she'll regret the day she was born to me!"

"Niamh. Are you even trying to understand how this looks and feels to her? Or are you choosing to be wilfully ignorant? Have you tried talking to her yourself? Without yelling and condescension?" Yoshiki asked as he leaned his elbow on his desk and rubbed at his eyes in tiredness.

She had called him to screech about Stormy’s attitude with her of late. But what did she expect? Stormy had made it clear that she didn't feel comfortable with Niamh getting married to Zach. Or the fact that Niamh was pregnant again, with Zach's second child.

"Are you implying that I can't speak to our stroppy sixteen year old!?"

"No, not implying, stating. I'm not trying to be rude or take away the validity of your frustration. But obviously you are letting your own personal feelings control your interactions with her. You can't tell me that you don't feel stung badly with Stormy’s seeming rejection of Zach and that it's leading you. Have you paused to try and find out why she feels the way she does right now?"

"Yoshiki how can I talk to her when she's just demanding to move in with you and never come back here!"

"Leading with your feelings again Niamh." He said, his tone eluding to his irritation.

"Yoshiki how can I talk to her!? Tell me how? You never seem to have any trouble with it and always seem to get her to open up and be honest."

"Because I let her know I want to understand her and how she feels. She's a person Niamh, not something to be commanded and treated like a petulant child. Even if she may appear to be acting like one. Just sit down and ask her why she feels the way she does. Make her feel safe and that she can be honest with you, without you letting your own emotions get you bent out of shape. There's no big secret to getting results with her Niamh. She is actually super easy to get answers from. What I just told you? That's literally all I do."

"Fine. Fine. Dammit I hate it when you talk sense. I always lose the fight."

"Interesting, I didn’t know we were having one. But ok, guess I win then."

"God you're infuriating, you know that?" She replied.  But he could hear that the seriousness had left her tone and was bordering on humor now.

"It's a talent that I happen to possess in spades my dear. You're not the first, nor will you be the last, to say that to me."

After this, they said their goodbyes and he thought he would actually get some peace now. But alas, it wasn't meant to be as his desk phone rang and the number showed that it was Stormy. Oh joy. Both of them in one day. He was suddenly feeling like a wholly unprepared referee. But with resignation, he sighed and picked up the phone.

"Yes little dove? How may I serve her majesty today?" He greeted, his tone sarcastic.

"Otou-san, you have to let me live with you for good! I can't live with her anymore. I can't do it. I'll go nuts! Her and her husband can go and su…"
