Evelyn jolted awake with a pained cry from her nightmare, rolling on her side. She felt like her body was on fire as she convulsed on the ground, the cuffs on her body sending a her electric shock after shock.
"Evelyn!" Multiple voices called out her name as she tried to breathe through the pain. "Stop this!"
The excruciating pain finally dialed down until all she felt was a buzz over her body. Her hair sticking to her face, Evelyn panted heavily on her cell's floor, realizing she was at the Raft not the HYDRA base. Still shaking, she lifted her head up and saw Sam standing in his cell, looking at her with worry in his eyes. Trying to regulate her breathing, she slumped back against the wall and waited till her muscles stopped spazzing.
"Evelyn?" She heard Clint's voice and slowly opened her eyes.
"I'm- I'm okay." Her voice trembled as she shakily inhaled. "Really."
"Told you what would happen if you tried to escape." Secretary Ross spoke, standing at the door. "Next time I won't be so kind to stop it."
"She wasn't trying to escape!" Sam hit the glass with his fists. "Hell, she wasn't even awake."
"Sam..." Evelyn called out with a small voice, shivers raking her body. "It's fine."
"Told you he wouldn't leave us behind, Clint." Evelyn snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a loud bang and Sam's laugh afterwards.
"Well, ain't you a sight?" Clint spoke, Evelyn moving closer to the front of her cell to see what was happening.
"Sorry I couldn't make it here sooner." Steve stood in front of her cell with a cut across his cheek and a large bruise. His lopsided grin vanished when he saw Evelyn's state. Quickly breaking the lock, he got in and carefully tore the cuffs off of her. "Evelyn, hey."
Evelyn sighed in relief as he held her head, checking to see if she was okay but she grabbed his wrists and put them down, giving him a weak smile.
"I'm okay." She nodded, rubbing her sore wrists. "Get the others."
Evelyn rested against the wall Steve freed their other teammates. Clint was quick at her side, making sure she was okay. They all stood in a circle, looking around the empty cells with small smiles.
"This has been fun but..." Clint spoke up with a chuckle. "Believe me when I say that I am officially retired now."
"Understood, Clint." Steve let out an airy laugh at his statement. "Go back home and take care of that family of yours. You've got to enjoy the time you've got with the ones you love while you have it." He wrapped an arm around Evelyn's shoulders, giving her a small smile. "That goes for you too Mr. Lang. Thank you again for your help."
"My pleasure, Captain America." Scott replied with a proud smile, happy to have worked with them. "But, uh... How do we get out of here?"
"Our ride is waiting outside." Steve stated leading them through the way he came in, unconscious guards all over the place. Grabbing their gear on the way, Sam was quick to put his EXO-7 Falcon suit on.
"Looks like someone had fun." Evelyn mumbled with a grin as she eyed her surroundings.
When they finally reached the top, saltwater sprayed on their faces along with heavy wind. Steve grabbed the ladder that was let down from the Quinjet and handed it to Clint as Sam wrapped his arms around Wanda, flying her up there. Scott followed after Clint and Evelyn tried to open her wings but failed.
"I got you." Steve wrapped an arm around her and held onto the ladder, the others pulling them in. Clint held out his hand for her and pulled her on her feet. Evelyn looked around and saw a beaten up Bucky sitting next to the cockpit chair, his metal arm torn off at the shoulder. She looked back at Steve with a puzzled look but he shook his head. "We'll explain later."
With a nod, Evelyn sat down, watching as the huge fortified circular structure swayed on the surface as the ramp of the Quinjet closed. They agreed on dropping Scott and Clint to their respective homes before going to Wakanda.
"Wanda." Steve called out as he piloted the jet. "Did you have anywhere in particular you'd like us to drop you off?"
"Just need to meet up with an old friend." Wanda replied with a small smile.
"Check up with us every other week, okay?" Evelyn asked putting a hand on her shoulder. "Let us know you're okay."
