"Don't worry." Evelyn put a hand on Wanda's shoulder as she was anxiously chewing on her lips. "He's in safe hands."

"What if I can't do it?" Wanda asked with worry as Shuri began to work on Vision.

"You know you can, Wanda." Evelyn smiled encouragingly. "You're stronger than you give credit for."

"Be careful out there." She replied with a frown and Evelyn couldn't help but pull her in a small hug.

"You too." Evelyn pulled back and gave her a one last smile before walking away.

She reached Steve just as someone handed him two black, collapsible, Vibranium shields. Steve thanked the man and took it from him. Steve saw her walking towards her and led her to an empty hallway to speak. Evelyn saw Wakandan soldiers getting ready outside and sighed with a shake of her head.

"You ready?" Steve asked her and Evelyn turned to him with a small nod. "Can I ask you to promise me something?"

"What is it?" Evelyn asked furrowing her eyebrows.

"Don't do anything reckless." He replied, looking at her almost pleadingly. "We don't know what we'll be facing today and I just want you to be careful."

"I always am, Steve." Evelyn gave him a small smile and put her hand on his cheek.

"I can't lose you." He blurted out, holding her hand and kissing her wrist. "In Sokovia, when you were falling... I remember how helpless I felt. Just imagining life without you-"

"Steve..." Evelyn breathed out and quickly blinked the tears away. "I'm not going anywhere. I promise."

She knew they didn't have much more left to have a heart to heart and that the moment they stepped out of the doors their emotions would be left behind. They were soldiers after all and they had to stay focused during a fight. Quickly wrapping her arms around his neck, Evelyn pulled him in for a kiss. His hands wounded around her waist as he pulled her as close as he could.

Evelyn poured her feelings into the kiss and she felt Steve doing the same. He pulled back a little and looked at her adoringly before quickly pecking her lips one more time. Evelyn felt like he was going to say something by the way he opened his mouth but a second alarm went off signaling that it was time. She gave him a warm smile and handed him the shields, putting on her agent face.

"Let's go, Rogers."

When they got outside, they saw the rest of their team ready to go. Steve led them to the carriers and met up with T'Challa who was now in his Black Panther suit without the helmet.

"Everyone ready?" Steve asked and received determined nods in response. "Sam, Rhodey, Evelyn." He called out. "Perimeter checks."

"On it." Sam replied and set off first, followed by Rhodey.

Evelyn saw some of the Wakandans looking at her with curiosity as to how she would do a perimeter check. Her eyes met with Natasha's who was already on the carrier and winked before unleashing her wings and flying off. Evelyn heard couple commentaries which made her let out a chuckle. All she saw was the five vessels and vast forest ahead. 

"No movement yet." She spoke on the coms as she hovered right in front of the force field, careful not to touch it. "Am I being too optimistic to hope it stays that way?"

"Yes." Sam replied with a grin as he flew past her. "And it would be way out of character for you."
