Yuu heavily catches her breath. She actually managed to tackle him onto the ground. The sword she held on her hand gleamed, the dark lights creating an illuminated on its lustrous feature. She held it high with both hands ready to stab the traitor's throat.
"I forgot that you're a girl for all the times we've been together, Yuu."
The red-head cupped her face ever so gently, afraid that he will lose her at any moment's time.
"You can kill me and everything will still go back to normal."
A drop of tear cascaded on Ace's own face. How many times did he make her cry this day? On purpose or not, it still wrangled his chest.
"How many times have you done this?"
She whimpered, dropping the sword to the ground. She grabbed his collar so she could look him in the eyes. Her eyes were filled with tears but she wanted to hear it from him.
"Are you an idiot? You know I can turn the tide around if you just killed immediately."
Ace strained a smile in an attempt to make light of the situation.
"Answer me properly." She firmly said.
"Aren't you tired? How many times have you seen this tragedy unfold in front of you? How many times have you seen everyone die? Ace... Why was I summoned into this world? Why did you destroy the mirror?"
Yuu finally sobbed into his chest. She knows he harboured special feelings towards her but he was still her friend. They've been through together with Deuce and Grim.
"I would be lying if I said I was tired. But I'm only doing things as I'm told."
He lifts her chin and tucked the stray hair that was scattered all over her face. She was still beautiful to him even though she cried. He is a friend and that's all he will ever be to her.
"If I stop here then I won't be able to give you your happy ending."
I won't be the prince though...
Ace slowly leaned in towards her, raised her bangs and gently kissed her forehead.
"No matter what timeline you are in... No matter which Yuu are you... I will always love you."
Lights started to drown the entire hall. The ground shook and split. A huge amount of magic started to condense around the place they were.
"It is starting... It is too late to save this timeline."
He let go of her, "I must go."
"A-Ace, what is going on?"
No no no no no she still has a lot of unanswered questions.
Spirals of magic surrounded her and the light almost blinded her. Yuu was placed in a moment of deafening darkness. Her tongue was tied as she tried to call out a name which she couldn't remember anymore. She tried to reach out to still grasp what she lost.
However what came to greet her beyond that darkness was a cat the size of raccoon with blue flaming ears and all around the creature were coffins.
