Chat Noir was hopping from rooftop to rooftop, scanning the city for any signs of trouble.

He was patrolling alone tonight, as his lady has been preoccupied with her new position as the guardian of the miraculous.

As he leapt through the buildings,  he saw a figure sitting at the edge of the Montparnasse tower.

He got closer, and noticed that it was actually a familiar girl. A superhero, in particular.

That looked like….

"Multimouse?"

He landed behind her and saw her tense.
She turned around and relaxed when she saw it was just Chat Noir, leaving out a sigh of relief.

"Hello Chat Noir."

He did not return the greeting; instead, he raised his eyebrows high and looked at her with concern.
Multimouse, in response, raised an inquisitive brow at him, perplexed as to why he seemed like he was trying to figure out something.

Her eyes widened as she realized the situation.

"Oh. No, no, everything's fine. Ladybug gave me the miraculous back just for this once..to escape from reality and clear my head a bit, you know?"
She chuckled nervously and bit her lower lip, hoping she sounded convincing enough.

I mean, that wasn't entirely a lie.
She did need the mouse miraculous to escape, since she's not as known as Ladybug, she could think and relax without any interruptions.

Well.. almost.

She had forgotten it was Chat Noir's turn for patrol tonight, but of course she wouldn't mind his company.
He always manages to lighten up the mood, puns or without.

She maintained a nervous gaze on Chat as he sighed in relief and smiled at her with his normal cheeky grin.

He believed her.

That's good.

"May I join you then, Multinette?"
She rolled her eyes and patted the ground beside her. ”Seat’s free.”

He settled himself next to her, and stayed silent for a few minutes.
No, it wasn't the uncomfortable silence where you felt compelled to speak just to avoid remaining quiet.

It was a comfortable silence, as they gazed around the city together, lost in its splendor…

Chat looked at the girl next to him, questions forming in his mind as he looked at her in wonder.

Is she okay? How did she reach Ladybug? Did Alya ask her? Does Alya know?

Oh well.

He can ask Ladybug the next time he sees her. Now, Marinette seems to be needing someone to talk to.

Chat cleared his throat after a brief moment to draw Multimouse's attention, which he did as she quickly turned around to face him, patiently waiting for him to speak.

"Do you..want to talk whatever is in your head?"
She gave him a sweet smile before glancing down at the ground, her smile fading.

Chat Noir's fake cat ears fell downwards, as he instantly regretted asking because it clearly made her sad thinking about, whatever it was.

" I'm sorry I-"

" It's about a boy. " She interrupted.

He furrowed his brows in response to her admission but said nothing.

He tried his best to ignore the uneasy sensation in his stomach.

He immediately thought of any possible boys that could have had made Marinette feel this way.

Who erased that lovely smile of hers..

He couldn't help but feel angry.

The only boy he knew she was close to, was Luka. They've gotten very close lately.
Too close for his liking.

Not that Adrien would admit it out loud.
He was not jealous.

Multimouse stared up at him as he nodded, a reassuring smile on his face.

"This cat has four ears lil mouse. I'm literally all ears." She started giggling and playfully nudged him with her elbow.

Chat couldn't help but stare while she was giggling, her sweet laughter filling up his ears.
And God, she looked gorgeous. Those buns really fit her real good, and pink is definitely her color.

And her smile… her smile is mesmerizing.
Chat shook his thoughts away when he noticed Multimouse had become silent, and he was now completely focused on what she was about to say.
" I've recently started seeing someone..he's really cool, you know."

Again.

This uneasy feeling.

Go away.

"Y-yeah?" He said weakly.

"Yeah.. but… I don't love him, like he loves me."
Chat raised his eyebrow at her, completely confused and oblivious of what she meant by that.

" I mean.. He loves, loves me. But I love him as a friend..I just..feel so horrible! He deserves so much better, Chat! I was really trying to get over him but I just can't! And look where it got us! " She exclaimed and covered her face with her palms in embarrassment, slightly shaking her head.

"Who's..him ? Sorry, I'm confused. Who were you trying to get over?"

" It's…"

She removed her hands and bit her lip.

" It's a friend. A very good one. And he means a lot to me. I'm trying my best to just be better friends with him despite my crush on him, and move on, since he already has a girlfriend. And she's my friend too, I don't want to get in between them."
She pulled her knees to her chest, and buried her face on them.

Chat was just staring, his mouth forming a small 'o', not sure of how to react.
He's supposed to comfort her, but all he is thinking about is who this guy could be.

Someone from their class perhaps?

But who?

It can't be Nathaniel, he's with Marc.
Who has a girlfriend?

Ivan...Nino...and? Kim?

Yeah- No. No way it's one of them. Gotta be someone that doesn't go to their school.
Or someone from another class?

His thoughts suddenly got interrupted at the sound of her voice.

" So the other guy.. that I tried to date. I can tell he really cares, and would do anything for me to be happy. He's an amazing guy, but he could tell that I was still thinking of  someone else.."

She paused before continuing again.

"He looked so hurt, Chat. " She eventually turned her gaze back at him, tears forming in her eyes.

"But he was so understanding. And I feel terrible. I hurt him because I couldn't get over a guy that I have zero chances with!"

She couldn't help it, she broke down in front of her partner. He gasped and immediately pulled her towards him, his arms around her petite frame, embracing her tightly.
She buried her face on his chest and sobbed. He looked down in sympathy, completely broken to see her like that.

She didn't deserve this. She didn’t deserve that oblivious guy, whoever that was.

He's blind to not notice this beautiful girl.

" Marinette… please..It’s not your fault..It’s not like you can control your feelings. I know it's hard..but you can't get over someone overnight. Trust me, I know…"

Multimouse drew back and locked her gaze on Chat, having an idea who he may be talking about.

" And you can't force yourself to develop feelings for someone. " He wiped the last tear on her cheek with his thumb and gave her a small smile. " It's not your fault."

"Don't cry, Princess."
