Kumunot ang noo ni Jeno at dali-daling bumaba sa sala mula sa kwarto niya. Nang sumilip siya sa labas ay nandoon ang nanay niya na may hawak na envelope. "Ano 'yan, Ma?"
[ Jeno creases his forehead and quickly exits his room to go downstairs. When he peeks outside, there he sees his mother holding an envelope. "What's that, Mom?" ]
"Envelope. Walang laman."
[ "Envelope. It's empty." ]
Nag-aalangang kinuha niya ito mula sa kamay ng nanay niya saka umupo sa sofa. Binuksan niya ang envelope at sinilip ang laman. "Aba, gago! Wala ngang laman."
[ He hesitantly grabs it from his mother's hand then sits on the sofa. He opens the envelope to see the inside of it. "Oh, stupid! It's really empty." ]
