I took Lyna to the public school for her first day and then went to work myself, it was another busy day in the bakery that we were swamped till nightfall. As I headed home since Lyna would’ve been picked up
by Sam, it was the dead of night. Not a sound could be heard, and I could only see the path that was illuminated by the lanterns hanging over head. I made my way towards the house, thinking about everything that’s going on, it was that moment when a hand landed on my shoulder. I screamed and the
hand covered my mouth behind me I heard him say “I’m sorry I scared you just calm down, people are sleeping...” I recognized the voice immediately. It was Leo. As I turned around, he waved and said “You
know? If you ain’t careful Space Cadet someone might kidnap you, Do you wanna talk about your troubles I can lend an ear. I was fed up with talking to the neighbor's cat anyway.” He gave an awkward
laugh, and I voiced my worries to him while he walked me home. He nodded along while he walked
looking carefree beside me before saying “I promise you; I’ll do everything in my power to keep you safe, so you don’t have to worry. Okay?” He grinned brightly as the moonlight shone down on us at the
bottom of the stairs. I didn’t know how he could do it; how could he sound so confident and carefree when the future was so uncertain, I mean this village doesn’t even have a Lord to rule over it anymore.

I stared up at the sky, the stars shone so brightly that night and as we made it up the stairs I realized I wasn’t the only one staring at the sky, Sam was lying at the top of the hill looking up and when Leo
noticed her he maneuvered over to be by her side before saying “Milady, I have delivered the parcel safe and sound and might I add you look radiant tonight.” Sam glanced towards him and smiled a
somewhat cold smile towards him while saying “Thank you Leo for escorting her home but I'd appreciate it if you didn’t refer to my sister as a parcel.” It was then I realized he called me a parcel and I
shouted “Hey!” before I ran towards him and chased him around the garden. Eventually he gave in and apologized since he didn’t think I would have enough energy to still chase him even after he was
exhausted.

We both collapsed onto the ground on either side of Sam and that was where we stayed till the sun rose far into the sky. Lyna shook me away and when I got up, I noticed Leo and Sam was still asleep on the grass beside me, during the night Leo had one hand on top of Sam’s since they were both sleeping on their fronts. I heard someone call up the stairs and it was Geoffrey, he was asking if Leo was
with us, and I nodded. It was then he came up the stairs and when he saw Leo sleeping there, he just kicked his legs. Leo shot up then and pulled a knife out, pointing it at Geoffrey. I gasped unlike Geoffrey but when Leo realized who it was, he put his knife away. He then glanced down and saw Sam before looking away his cheeks turning a light shade of pink, Geoffrey was just standing there a sighed before saying “Romeo, you have work to do so get a move on.” Leo nodded but before he went, I asked him to help me take Sam upstairs because I didn’t want to leave her outside while I was at work, he went over and knelt down, carefully picking Sam up and carrying her inside while I followed, and he placed her on her bed.
I handed him a piece of bread, so he had at least food and then we went down the stairs before parting ways to get on with our days.
Our days went similar to this for many months, It was like we were all worried and tense for no reason but the feeling still lingered, Leo came around more and more often and soon enough it was Lyna’s
birthday, me and Sam baked her a cake and decorated the house before it was time for her to get home from school, we asked Geoffrey to collect her and luckily, I was given today off.
When she entered the house, we all called surprise and Leo jumped up bumping his head on the ceiling which made Sam almost burst out laughing, he gave her an unappreciated look before saying, and what do you think you're laughing at milady, she replied with. “I was just thinking it’s a good job I made the
ceiling tough enough.” Leo understood exactly what she meant and shouted “That’s rude! I’m not hard headed!” me and Geoffrey was giggling along with Lyra, we heard Leo mutter something that surprised
Sam as her eyes widened and her cheeks tinged pink.
We all enjoyed the party and had cake and before long, nightfall fell. Sam carried Lyna to her bed before coming back down to join us. During that night a knock was heard at the door, Sam answered it and it was a messenger, he handed her a single letter and she thanked him for his troubles before heading towards her room saying “I need to answer this, you all can keep enjoying yourselves here though.” Geoffrey and Leo left eventually, and it was Leo that was
supporting Geoffrey back home since he was walking wobbly, and I headed back upstairs where I saw Sam basked in the lanterns light with a tense look on her face while she had her quill in her hand
scraping letters across the parchment on her desk beside the letter. I wanted to know what was wrong but decided it would be better to just head to bed instead and not bother her. From that day Sam seemed very distant, she barely said anything for weeks not even to Leo or Lyna. Obviously, Leo got fed up of getting ignored cause one day I heard a crash from upstairs and when I reached her room he had hold of her arms and held her against the wall looking into her eyes saying “Just what on earth is so
important you have to ignore those around you over...? I can tell it’s bugging you Sam from your expression but none of us can help if you don’t let us...” It was then he noticed the letter on top of her wardrobe, he reached up for it and when she realized she tried to stop him but it was too late, he had opened the letter and read it while holding it well above her head as he held her with his other arm, his expression darkened as he read it and said “You could've told me your parents were planning on coming...” I was shocked and Sam looked down guiltily and that’s when it hit me, she received a letter from our parents but was hiding it from me, all the feelings of hurt and anger overcome me, and I stormed off. Leo called after me, but I just left, I arrived at the dock and sat there. After a few hours I was approached by a guy with hair as bright as the sun and eyes as vibrant as the ocean. I quickly wiped my tears away and he said “It’s fine if you want to cry you know...? And I’m willing to listen as well if you need to talk to someone, I may just be a traveler but maybe an outsiders opinion is what you need...” he
smiled which reassured me and I confided in him.

For months all I did was work and spend time with him.
