And so they were gone.

I woke up at their table, a blanket fell off my shoulders as I shot up upon hearing Lyna crying as she ran down the stairs. She was holding a music box close to her chest, "Hey kiddo, what's wrong..? Why are you crying..?" she looked up at me, her voice hitched as she muttered "They're gone..." I quickly ran upstairs and opened Sam's door, everything was cleaned up the writing stuff wasn't even on the desk, I rushed across the hall to Kaela's room and hers was the same, they were just gone, defeated I went down the stairs and comforted Lyna, "They've just gone away for a while, so you'll be staying with me and Leo until they return ok?" She nodded as she wiped away her tears. "Let's go tell Leo as well!" She said, a smile lighting up her face as she grabbed my hand and pulled me to the door. I closed the door behind me. She pulled me down the stairs, it was quite difficult to keep up so I almost fell down them and as we was passing the gate we saw Midnight a mop of silvery hair lay upon her back as she kicked at the guards who was trying to contain her, I ordered them to back away and then approached her slowly, I reached out slowly and let her nuzzle my hand before I gently stroked her. When I went round to her side I saw it was indeed that idiot Leo, he lay unconscious bound to her back with rope but appeared to be unharmed. I undid the rope and helped lift him off before taking the fool back home as Midnight trailed behind us. Eventually he shot up out of bed and he shouted "Why is she so annoying?!" I shrugged before saying, "I'm guessing you tried to stop her from leaving and she knocked you out. Fitting that the last time you may meet you're once again knocked unconscious and tied onto her horse, no wonder Midnight is used to it."

He glared at me, "Ha ha ha... Very funny, aren't you a comedian this morning. How come I'm the only one bothered bout them leaving like that?"

I slammed down on the table infront of me as I stood up and turned around, "Do you honestly think I wanted to wake up at their dining room table to Lyna crying because they were gone? Do you honestly think that I didn't want to say goodbye? I know why they did it the way they did but I don't like it!" We heard a little sniffle at the door and it was Lyna, I apologised and so did Leo and she gave Leo a piece of paper, when he looked at it he cringed. I looked over his shoulder at it to see a drawing of Midnight with what appeared to be Leo tied to her back, I snickered and covered my mouth to try and hold back the laughter but when Leo said "It's very creative Lyna..." with a mixture of embarrassment and cringe on his face I couldn't help but burst out laughing. He hit me around the head and told me to shut up but I just couldn't help it, he looked like he was drunk and had passed out on the back of the horse. I plucked the picture from his hands and said "I'm gonna go get this fitted in a frame it'll look great on the wall!" He tried reaching out to stop me but retracted his hand when he saw how happy Lyna looked at that idea.

After I'd put the frame up we went back to the girls house to pick up Lyna's belongings and when we entered I noticed the letters on the table, I picked up mine and Leo's and held his out to him, "What's this?" He asked quizzically as he carefully plucked it from my fingers. When he saw the hand writing he immediately opened it and crouched down in a corner to read it. "You have such a weird way of reading things." I guffed as I opened mine and read what was inside.

"Dear Geoffrey,

I'm sorry for doing this to you but it was going to hurt too much to say goodbye in person, especially since we may never be able to return.

I shan't ask for forgiveness but please take care of Lyna and Leo for me and I will try and write every week like I promised, you may use our house since it is bigger. Just dump mine and Kaela's belongings in a box or something.

We will miss you all loads so take care and live a happy life.

Sam and Kaela."

I folded the letter up carefully and put it neatly in my pocket, beside me, still crouched down, Leo was trying not to cry as he held the letter tightly. I patted him on the head for my hand to just get squatted away before going upstairs to find Lyna. She was looking at her belongings and I said, "Don't worry bout it. Sam left a letter for me and she said we could stay here so you don't need to decide." She looked up at me and nodded. We headed back downstairs and she helped me make dinner, even Leo began helping and cheered up immensely, I'm not sure what she wrote to him but it sure made him break down and now he seems to be doing better.

I grabbed some stuff for me and Leo from our house and we began staying there for now. As we ate our afternoon meal Leo said, "I still want 'em back. We should go get them, they won't be happy there with that creature..."

"That creature you're referring to is their mother." I replied curtly. "Besides, how do you expect us to do that? Break into their childhood home, say release them and just gallop away into the sunset?"

Leo nodded along, "Well I guess we could try that." I rejected the idea, even if we miss them we couldn't just take them back.
