Before stepping out of the TARDIS, King Mob had the group all take a set of tablets.
"They're a mental steroid" he explained when asked what the purpose was "People who meet the horrors described in the Necronomicon that aren't prepared for it, tend to go completely fucking insane"

This of course had only served to make the group even more nervous as to what they would be facing off against. When they stepped out of the TARDIS, they found themselves standing in a dark cold room made almost entirely out of blackish stone.

As they looked around, the Doctor scanned with his sonic screwdriver. The light soon revealed a mural depicted a strange creature unlike anything the group had seen before.

"The fuck is that thing?" Mcclane asked

"An Elder Thing" the Doctor explained "They're the ancient race who built this whole city millions of years before mankind walked the Earth"
Emma squinted as she stared down the mural "So what happened to them?"

The Doctor shrugged "Sadly that particular piece of information has been lost to history.

King Mob then frowned at the group "Now be on guard at all times. We're currently standing inside one of the most dangerous locations on the planet. In fact I think we're the first people to set foot in here for the best part of 70 years"
Jerry blinked "Who were the last poor saps to do so?"

"Ever heard of the 1930 Dyer Expedition?" Robin asked him

Jerry shook his head "No. Should I?"

"It was largely hushed up by the authorites at the time" Boy explained "Now it's largely forgotten aside from the occassional reference in the archives of Miskatonic university. And with good reason. They say the last man to set foot in this place lost his mind at the horrors he witnessed and spent the rest of his life in an asylum!"
Scully frowned "And we're going inside?"
"Yeah" King Mob grinned "So buckle the fuck up"

The walk through the nameless city was one of the creepiest things the group had ever done. The cold air of the city made it feel like a frozen necropolis with the very stink of death wafting through the atmosphere at every turn.

As they continued to move through the city, Mulder nudged the Doctor

"So where do you Mater's gone to in this funhouse?"

The Doctor continued to scan his Sonic Screwdriver "That's what I'm trying to find"
"Any luck? Mulder looked around and nervously chewed his lip "I'd just like to get outta this place as soon as we can"

"Well it's a very very big city" the Doctor replied "In fact I think it's bigger than every human city currently in existence"

Jerry sighed "Let me guess. We've gotta search every nook and cranny in this place before Mater unleashes that Shub-whatever thing right?"

"Oh don't worry" the Doctor replied with his obligatory grin "I tried to track her before we landed and I have a feeling she's not within 35 miles of where we currently are"
Jerry sighed a second time "Sorry I asked"

The group had been walking around the ruins for a fair amount of time (how much time this was exactly was impossible to tell) when they heard a sound in the distance. It sounded like a muffled squawking

"What the fuck is that?" Mcclane asked

"Dear oh dear darling" Fanny chided "You really need to watch your language"
Mcclane scowled "Hey when you're explorin' a giant alien city that totally reeks of death, you gotta swear every once in a while to let off some pressure. You know what I mean?"

"No I don't" Fanny smiled sweetly

"What do you think that sound is?" Scully asked

"Whatever it is, it's definitely a living creature" King Mob told them
