"You went to Hoth Elementary School, didn't you?"
Shiori's heart stopped dead. How did Midoriya know the name of his elementary school? Did he know who Shiori really was? The boy's heart pounded in his ears as he tried to stay in place and not push past his classmate and into his dorm.
"Its just, I went there and I remember there being a kid in another class, Hayashi. I don't remember his first name being Kei but I was wondering if that was you and you changed your last name or something?" The green haired boy questioned, genuinely curious.
"How could you not remember the name of the only other quirkless piece of trash at that school?" Bakugou said, appearing out of seemingly no where "His first name was Shiori or some shit like that...". The blonde seemed to stop as he connected the dots in his head. The rivals shared a look that Shiori didn't quite understand, but he didn't stick around long enough to find out.
He ran.

"So the problem children knew you before?" Shouta asked, a little shocked. Shiori nodded into Hizashi's chest where he had burrowed himself into in his bird form. It probably wasn't the best move to show up at their dorm right before curfew, start sobbing about how his identity was going to be revealed and then shift into a bird, but there was no changing the past.
"Shi," Hizashi began "Do you want to tell them? They're responsible enough not to tell anyone.". Shiori shook his head vehemently. "Not even just Midoriya?". Another no.
Shiori wanted to tell them that Bakugou knew he was 'quirkless' too and that was a problem but he couldn't muster the resolve to shift. There was no incentive. He had finally decided to live as a human again, and look how that was going. Shiori made a distressed sort of chirp, or as distressed as it could be, and snuggled further into Hizashi. His shift was soft and he was warm.
"We can sort this out tomorrow, its too late now." Shouta said with a sigh "Come on Shiori, you should go back to the 1-A alliance.". No movement from the bird. "This isn't rational, the outcome will be the same whether we settle this in the morning or right now, just get some sleep.". Still nothing.
"He's asleep, Sho." Hizashi said with an apologetic smile. Shouta sighed heavily. "He gets so stressed over that but falls asleep first thing. I will never understand teenagers." He said, pinching the bridge of his nose "Just put him in the nest for now, one night wont kill us.".
The next morning when Shouta walked into the kitchen he expected to see the teenager's white hair popping out of a mess of blankets, as per usual, but he didn't. Just the living pompom in his nest. It was rare for Shiori to go a whole night in his bird form but Shouta realized that the day before had been quite the scare and the boy probably needed some time to calm down and think.
But he also ate bird seed for breakfast that morning instead of shifting when they called him to eat. Okay, not terrible, maybe he was just feeling more birdy today. It was when they asked him to go back to the dorms and get dressed and Shiori refused as adamantly as he could as a bird that they knew something was wrong.
"Shi, you have to change back to go to class, you can't attend school like that." Hizashi said in his most persuasive tone. Shiori shook his head and peeped angrily as if to say 'watch me'. This debate went on until Shouta was nearly running late.
With a sigh he just held out his finger for the bird to climb on. Shiori did so happily and sat on his teacher's shoulder until they reached class 1-A.

"You are quite the curious case!" Nezu said with a big smile. Shiori felt a shiver go down his spine. Curses Hizashi and Shouta for thinking a little chit chat with Nezu would help him. The guy was creepy.
"I don't know which entertains me more, the thought you are an animal so human you've decided you'd rather not be one, or a human so confused by you're own body you act like an animal." The principal lamented.
See? Creepy.
Shiori just fluttered from the chair opposite the principals to the windowsill. "See, here you go again. You're not quite human enough to understand my authority over you as a principal but human enough to listen to me.".
The room was enveloped in silence as Nezu continued on typing at his computer. They stayed like that for at least half an hour before the principal spoke again. "You wont be a very good hero if you're scared of being human." He said simply "Its not impossible for you to become a hero. Simply present yourself as an animal with a quirk and get a license for quirk use.".
Shiori was genuinely surprised at that. It was the first time someone had reacted to him shifting like that. He had always assumed it was impossible for him to do anything while not in human form. Maybe that was just the message beat into him by Hayashi.
"I didn't think about it like that..." Shiori said. His heart skipped a beat as he felt his body. He couldn't feel the space around him, couldn't breath didn't have lungs. What body was he in?
Everything swam around him, wings, arms...whatever he had right now were numb. Then someone was holding him, hands running through his hair. Some's cold hand's were cupping his cheek and-human. He was human. He was on the ground, Hizashi was holding him and it was his finger's running through Shiori's hair. Shouta's hands were touching his cheeks, wiping away his tears. Since when was he crying?
It took a few minutes for him to come back to himself but when he did Shiori thought over his principal's words.
"Who said I was scared of being human?"

And I'm back at it! Sorry for the delay in update, I'm trying to do my best with this but school is literally killing me.
I'm sorry for making Shiori have a panic attack but ever since he shifted involuntarily in front of Hizashi I thought that not knowing what body you're in would probably be a scary experience.
Stay Tuned!
