She'd been helping train guards in the dark kingdom, but now she was due home.

He goes out in the morning and sits on the porch he had built her, watching, waiting.

He'd made two cups of cocoa - one for her, knowing her hands would be cold - they always were.

He waited, from sun up till sun down, everyday,

The letter had arrived weeks before, telling him about the accident, a simple fall from a horse, just bad luck.

He wouldn't believe it, wouldn't believe that she wouldn't come over that hill and back into his arms.

So he kept waiting.
