On the third day after the exam, I got on the long-distance bus to City B.

Mom and their prison is not far from the city. Originally, the unit rented her a three-bedroom house in the city. She usually thinks it is far away from the prison, so she rarely goes there and lives in the unit dormitory. The dormitory is actually a tube building. The toilets and bathrooms are shared, and eating can only be done in the cafeteria.

After I came here, everything felt inconvenient, not as good as our school.

So, she followed me to live back to the city.

When moving things, several of my mother’s colleagues came to help. One of them was an uncle in his 50s who was particularly enthusiastic. The young driver kept calling him "Political Commissar Chen" with a smile.

Since the last time I quarreled with her in the cemetery, I was very sensitive to the word "Chen" and squinted at the "Chen political commissar" many times.

He is not tall, thin, and looks very dark in a navy blue cotton police uniform. People are kind to me, just look serious, always have a straight face, and are a completely different type of man from my father.

Later, he seemed to be aware of my scrutiny gaze and looked at me frequently.

Mother said nothing.

Before going to bed, I couldn't help it anymore and asked first: "Is this man the one you said?"

Mom wondered: "What are you talking about? This and that."

I didn't get angry: "It's Chen or something, who helped you move things today!"

After listening to her, she chuckled in joy, "What are you thinking about lately? Anyone whose surname is Chen is doubtful. What is Chen? Is there any politeness? Uncle Chen is the political commissar of our unit. It wasn't the last time I..." She held her face and paused, "Not the one I mentioned to you last time."

"Oh." I replied, "Who told you not to make it clear."

"By the way, his daughter is also in her senior year, and she will come over to accompany him on the New Year after she finishes the postgraduate exam next week. You can also be your company then.

"Oh."

"He said that his daughter is introverted and doesn't like being close to people, and I am afraid that you will not be able to talk. I said that you have a good personality since childhood, and you can play with anyone. I'm boasting Haikou, don't dismantle my station. ."

Suddenly, I realized a very serious question, "Mom, is Uncle Chen married or divorced?"

My mother was angry, "I said Xue Tong, you control me more strictly than I control you!"

I couldn't help but smirk.

I don’t know if it’s because I’ve grown up, or because it’s rare for us to get together now with mother and daughter, our relationship is indeed much better than before.

I have never been alone in an unfamiliar city with a map. I didn't feel used to it. After a few days, I started to fall in love with this feeling.
