A/N: Bad Batch is my latest obsession. I'm seeing a pattern in Star Wars TV -- men who don't know how to take care of children end up taking care of children. How I wish the scene in the hallway had gone. Spoiler alert for Bad Batch, if you haven't seen it yet.

3rd Person Point of View

Hunter, Tech, Echo, Wrecker, and Crosshair were walking down a Kaminoan hallway, discussing the mysterious Order 66, when Hunter held up a hand. The group stopped walking as he announced, "Lads, we've got company."

The group turned around and formed a semicircle around the visitor. "Hello," they said, in a distinctly feminine voice.

Wrecker hunkered down and peered at the child. "What's that?" he asked loudly.

Tech surveyed them with his translator visor, then reported, "Adolescent human male. Origins... uncertain."

"My name's Omega, and I'm a girl," she said. Tech frowned. "I was wondering when you guys would come back."

Everyone seemed stuck on different things, except for Crosshair, who was silent, not making any of his usual snide remarks.

"You know who we are?" Hunter asked, at the same time Tech said, "How can you be a girl?"

"I'm transgender. You know, born in a boy's body...?" She trailed off with a lopsided smile quickly slipping.

Tech looked more confused and turned away, mumbling to himself and typing furiously into a datapad.

Hunter took charge, already feeling bad for the way Tech had acted, though he was sure it was just a lack of knowledge that caused him to be rude. "What are you doing on Kamino, then?" he spoke, bending over to get more on her level.

She opened her mouth to speak, but a soft, melodic voice cut her off. "Her job, of course," a long-necked Kaminoan interrupted. "She is my medical assistant, one with a curious mind that causes her to wander." She looked down at Omega. "Come, Omega. There is work to do."

The child smiled once more at all of them, then turned and followed the longneck out, waving before turning a corner and disappearing from sight.

"This day keeps getting weirder and weirder," Hunter said, shaking his head.

"You can say that again," Tech muttered under his breath, shaking his head, a small smile playing on his lips.
