It was sometime in the afternoon when her mother finished reading to her. After the long reading, Claire grabbed a different book from the shelf. She wanted to get into reading on her own. It was another Sherlock Holmes story, but she did not mind. Her mother smiled.

"You want me to read you another one?" She asked.

"No mama," she replied. "I thought I would try to read this for myself. I hope you don't mind."

"Not at all. It's good to try and read on your own. Just know that I'll always be ready to read to you if it brings you comfort."

Claire nodded before carrying the book with her to her room. She sat down on her bed and looked at the cover.

"The Hound of the Baskervilles," she said to herself. "This is going to be interesting..."

Before she could open the book and read, her phone would ring. She raised a brow, surprised. She didn't expect to be getting a call during her time off. She grabbed her phone and answered.

"Bonjour?" She said. "This is Sergeant Claire Chevalier. May I ask who is calling?"

"Claire," the voice on the other line said. "This is Optimus Prime."

"Optimus?" She chuckled. "So what do I have the pleasure, sir? It's not often that a Prime calls me. I almost expected Bulkhead or Bumblebee to call me."

"Well Claire, I have called to talk about Smokescreen."

Once Optimus said that, Claire felt her stomach turn. She felt a strong sense of worry for him.

"How is he?" Claire asked. "Is he alright? Shouldn't Ratchet be telling me?"

"Ratchet thought it best that I tell you this. Smokescreen is doing much better now, and I am extending an invitation for you to come visit him."

"Really?!"

"Of course. Smokescreen is still recovering, but I'm sure that he would be happy to see you."

"Then I'd be happy to see him."

"Understood. I will have Bulkhead come and retrieve you."

The call would end and Claire quickly got her backpack and put the book she wanted to read inside. She was looking forward to visiting him, and she really wanted to see how he was doing; now she was going to get that chance.

She hurried down the stairs with her backpack on, a smile on her face. Her mother turned her head and saw Claire move quickly, surprised. She raised a brow, confused.

"What's got you excited Claire?" She asked, curious.

"I'm going to be visiting my teammate," Claire replied. "I got news that he's doing a lot better now."

"I'm glad he's doing better sweetheart. I hope to get to meet him someday."

"I'm not sure, mama..."

Claire got a little worried about that. She didn't want to lie to her mother about the deeper meaning behind her military job with Agent Fowler and General Bryce, but she had to not involve her with Team Prime. It was bad enough to lose one family member due to her military life, and she did not want to put her mother under that much stress. She had to keep Smokescreen a secret, as much as she didn't wish to.

Her thoughts were soon interrupted by the sound of a honking horn. She flinched, getting startled before she looked out the window to see Bulkhead waiting for her.

"I believe your ride is here," her mother said with a chuckle.

"Yeah," Claire replied before she went to hug her mother. "I'll make sure to message you when I can."
