masjid al aqsa is an islamic mosque in the old city. it is the third holiest islamic site in the entire world and is insanely important not only to palestinian muslims, but muslims as a whole.
however, al aqsa is also being controlled by israel despite being in the palestinian territory. 9as you remember, israel illegally took control of east jerusalem.) palestinians have to file applications to be able to go and these permits are usually rejected.
a mosque is a public place for spirituality and healing. it should be safe and free of violence. it should be open to anyone who decides to visit. what israel is doing goes against all of this.
as i write this, it is ramadan, a holy month on the islamic calendar. ramadan is almost over and the last ten days are extremely sacred, so muslim palestinians are going to masjid al aqsa to pray and perform spiritual duties.
