3rd person POV.

"Elijah we have a problem"
Elijah looked up
"Well then? Speak up."
The other person sighed
"It's Damon, he is here."
Elijah stood up angry
"Marcellus, what do you mean he is here?"
Marcel rolled his eyes
"Behave, don't show me attitude or I will rip your spine from your body."
Elijah threatened, Marcel grinned
"But Damon can?"
Elijah glared at him
"You are not Damon."
Marcel fake tutted
"You have gone soft Elijah, Damon gets away with anything he does to you. JEEZ. ELIJAH I'M KIDDING. I know ok, I know he is dear to you. Anyways, I tried to get him to leave but he didn't. He is determined to get you back and won't give up."
Marcel finished, Elijah sighed
"I know, he is one stubborn vampire."
Marcel and Elijah both turned their heads
"The ceremony it's starting. We have to go."
Marcel told Elijah, Elijah sighed
"I really don't want to do this."
Marcel nodded
"I'm sorry."
The both of them went out of the room. Now of course Elijah wasn't going to have to go through with this, Damon was going to save him or he'd save himself. Hopefully. Damon, Klaus and Bonnie stood hidden. Damon took off his daylight ring and hid it and put on the temporary one Bonnie made. They stood on a balcony hidden away, people partying. Elijah walked in.
"Hail to thee kind sir, hail to our leader and our king."
Everyone chanted, Damon looked at Bonnie
"What is this the 1500's"
He cringed, Klaus snorted and Bonnie smacked them both on their arms
"Hush, you'll get caught."
The witches were chatting and talking, till a woman walked out in a long blue dress. The room fell silent. She walked over to Elijah
"We are to be wedded in order to be linked. Then we can rule together for eternity."
She captured his lips in a kiss. Damon was about to fling himself forward and Klaus once again stopped him.
"That bitch is dead."
Klaus glared at him
"Did you two not break up?"
Damon narrowed his eyes
"Yh you guys did break up so ..."
Bonnie added, Damon glared at both of them and they laughed
"Just Don't act on impulse for once. One wrong move and someone will end up dead."
They turned to voices.
"He's here. Damon Salvatore is here and you knew, you've been lying to us why?"
She asked Elijah, Elijah shook his head
"I didn't know, I did not call him."
Elijah defended.
"Well, find him and kill him."
She ordered others. They nodded and left.
"No."
Elijah commanded
"No one will touch my raven. We will continue with the ceremony. I will wed you."
Damon looked at Klaus and Klaus firmly shook his head
"3,2,1 you guys better find a way for me to not die because goodbye."
Damon left the balcony before Klaus or Bonnie could stop him. He made himself apparent in the middle of the room.
"That's cute and all but don't call me yours, I don't belong to anyone, I mean come on who would deny the men and women of the world this."
He gestured to himself. Their eyes met and Damon wanted to grab him and stay in his arms and Elijah was tempted to walk across the room and hold him. They suppressed their urges.
"Damon. Leave."
Elijah warned
"Yes because I listen to everything you tell me to do"
Damon rolled his eyes.
"You shouldn't be here, they will kill you."
Elijah pleaded
"Aww and here I thought you would actually be glad to see me."
Damon pouted Elijah rolled his eyes
"I told you I don't need to be saved. I'm fine."
Elijah said, Damon rolled his eyes
"My brother is Stefan Salvatore and his girlfriend is Elena Gilbert. I do this bullshit about 6 times a week. Now just an FYI they plan to kill you, you or Klaus and Klaus is an immortal bastard."
Damon smirked and the coven members glared at him.
"Oh my goodness, you didn't know oops sorry for ruining your plans."
Elijah groaned
"You really wouldn't have been satisfied without waltzing in here and screwing everything up."
Damon looked at him with his eye thing
"So now I'm meant to apologise for saving your life."
Elijah sighed
"This whole thing was to make sure you don't get killed, you coming here doesn't do that."
Damon defended himself
"I never asked you to save me."
Elijah raised his eyebrows at the irony.
"Damon you do realise none of this would be happening if I hadn't come back to mystic falls and fallen in love with you."
Damon raised his eyebrows
"That's my fault?"
Elijah nodded
"Kind of."
He replied
"How?"
He asked
"Is that really important right now?"
Elijah asked back
"Well yes, it seems as if you blamed me, I would like to know."
Damon nodded
"I didn't mean it is literally your fault."
Elijah rolled his eyes
"But you said it is."
Damon pointed out
"Ok fine it's my fault. Happy?"
Elijah sighed
"Very. You just admitted you find me irresistible"
Damon grinned
"Definitely did not."
Elijah shook his head
"Along those lines."
Damon shrugged
"You are mad."
Elijah tried to hide his smile
"Hmmmm don't seem to care when you f-"
Damon began to say something very inappropriate
"Behave."
Elijah warned
"Yes sir."
They stared at each other before falling into laughter.
"What are you waiting for, kill him."
The witch who kissed Elijah commanded
"Hey, why do witches not like me!?"
Damon asked
"I may be wrong, but possibly because you've killed and tortured them. But what do I know"
Elijah rolled his eyes at him, Damon shook his head.
"No, I don't think that's it. What's the time? 10pm. Great, we have 5 mins. Alright hit me witches."
The witches began chanting. Elijah watched confused as to why nothing is happening, Damon grinned
"Aneurysm spell, you're going to have to do better than that."
He hissed before killing the first witches in sight.
"Phasmatos veras nos ex malom. Terra mora vantis quo incandis per vasa quo errum signos"
Damon heard Bonnie chant. Bonnie nodded at him
"As many as you can."
"We're trapped, we can't get out."
A minion came in. Damon put his hand up
"That would be courtesy of the only witch that I like. You didn't think I'd come without back up."
Klaus jumped out and started killing the witches. They were so fast that they managed to kill the witches. Only because the strongest witch was completing the ceremony.
"You shouldn't be able to walk in the sun. Your ring shouldn't work here."
She asked, Damon shrugged not wanting to reveal his real ring.
"Damon. You need to do it now."
The witch took a deep breath and created a ball of magic calmly,
"Phasmatos incendere ad pulvox."
She prepared to throw the ball at Damon.
"NO!"
Elijah's voice boomed through the room but it was too late the ball was already flying towards Damon. Elijah vamped in front of him and let himself get hit.
"No no no no,"
Bonnie's panicked voice came and the witch was smirking. Damon turned to her
"What Bonnie. BONNIE WHAT."
She shook her head
"Damon I- , Elijah did you know?"
Elijah looked at her sadly smiling before nodding.
"WHAT- WHAT IS IT. TELL ME NOW."
Damon begged. The witch laughed sadistically
"You truly are pathetic, this wouldn't have happened if you had just let him marry me."
"Elijah why?"
Klaus asked,
"I will always choose him over myself."
He whispered
"SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON."
"That spell was a death induction spell."
Bonnie told Damon, just before Elijah started coughing up blood. He was violently spilling blood from his guts.
"No. No. No"
Damon saw red, he was furious
"I am going to have so much fun killing you."
He threatened , the witch laughed
"Do it. I have already fulfilled my purpose."
Damon speeded over to her and twisted her arm, she screamed in pain, he ripped her arm off then the other arm
"Always hated witches with their spells. Except you bon."
The witch looked terrified now bleeding from her shoulders. He poked his fingers in her eyes and she screamed in agony
"No please, please don't kill me"
She pleaded for her life, Damon tutted
"How pathetic"
He pulled them out and crushed them under his feet. She screamed and begged. Damon let her go, she tried to run, Damon watched her and let her run. He simply walked after her as she didn't get very far, he knocked her to the ground and she screamed
"Aww what's wrong you just said to kill you."
He took his other ring and pierced it through her heart, she screamed and cried feeling her skin on fire. He pulled off her head with no remorse. Instantly they disappeared into ash. He took in the sight of Elijah and ran over to him
"Are you satisfied"
He asked weakly
"Shut up."
Damon instructed, he laughed before coughing some more.
"Do you believe me now?"
Elijah asked, Damon looked confused
"I don't need saving because I would always choose to save you."
Damon's mouth fell
"You idiot"
Elijah looked amused
"I'm dying and you call me an idiot"
Damon glared at him
"You are not dying ok. I won't let you die."
Elijah shook his head
"What's done is done"
Damon shook his head
"No. Shut up Elijah. You aren't leaving me."
Elijah laughed slightly
"It's too late. My sweet raven."
He leaned up to Damon's ear
"I love you."
His eyes shut.
"No no no no. ELIJAH. ELIJAH. ELIJAH WAKE UP."
There was no response. Klaus looked away sadly, he lost his brother. Bonnie felt tears in her eyes, Elijah was her dear friend. Damon shook his head at her
"No Bonnie, why are you crying? It's fine, ok. He's ok. He will be fine."
Bonnie looked at him sympathetically
"Damon"
Damon continued to shake his head
"NO. Ok no. He's fine. Let's pick him up and put him in a car and go back to mystic falls. Someone there can help us."
Klaus sighed
"Damon, he's my brother, I don't want to believe his dead trust me but there's no point taking him to mystic falls, we should bury him."
Damon stood up and walked up to Klaus
"what? Excuse me? What did you just say? No we are not BURYING HIM BECAUSE HE IS NOT DEAD. Don't tell me that brother crap. You kept him DAGGERED KLAUS."
Damon screamed at Klaus, Klaus looked down in shame.
"Let's take him back to mystic falls. We can go with a car this time."
Bonnie offered, Damon nodded gratefully at her. Klaus lifted Elijah and Marcel ran in
"OMG Elijah."
He came over to Elijah, Klaus warned Marcel to not come near him. But Marcel didn't understand. Klaus had suspicions about the extent of Damon and Elijah's relationship but didn't say anything as it is EXTREMELY rare in vampires. Only vampires with the strongest attraction and love are bound in the way he thinks. Marcel was pushed against a wall
"What the hell are you doing here, it's funny how you come after all of this is over. WHAT DID YOU DO?"
Damon snarled
"I didn't do anything I didn't even know"
Marcel coughed.
"Damon, DAMON. Damon. Let him go."
Klaus asked. Damon glared at Marcel
"Oh yh yh sure I'll let him go."
He snapped Marcel's neck. Bonnie looked shocked. She knew Elijah's death was upsetting but she didn't think he would be this bad. Bonnie looked at Klaus and he told her to follow him and the two walked out with Elijah's body.
"Bonnie, I have a theory. I think that they are"
Klaus began Bonnie looked at him curiously
"I mean it's rare among vampires but they may be mates."
Bonnie's eyes grew wide Klaus nodded. Damon came out.
"Well, are we ready to go? I spoke to some other people in mystic falls and they are ready to help. He's fine, don't worry."
He was still in denial. They got in the car and drove. It was silent
"I swear when Elijah wakes up I'm going to punch that idiot."
Damon broke the silence. Klaus and Bonnie looked at him with pity.
"We should stop at your house and pick up a new suit for him. He's going to want one when he wakes up you know how he is."
Bonnie's heart broke for her best friend. They arrived in Mystic Falls at Elena's house. Elena came rushing out with Alaric following
"Damon, OMG, I heard-"
Elena asked, Damon cut her off laughing
"Ric I asked you to help me and you already told everyone, anyways it's fine the more the better. Don't be so serious you guys are acting like he's dead or something. Come on, bring him inside."
Damon walked inside and they followed him in, Elena wide eyed and shocked. Caroline saw Damon
"Damon are you ok?"
Damon rolled his eyes
"I'm fine care bear."
They all watched Damon sympathetically.
"We have to pull him out of this state."
Alaric said. They all agreed. It was going to be hard but they had to. Bonnie did everything she could to wake him up.
"Ok Elijah this isn't funny. Wake up now."
Rebekah came running in and saw her brother's body.
"No"
She screamed and rushed forward and fell at his feet.
"How, how did this happen."
She broke out into a sob. Klaus comforted her as best he could.
"Damon, he's gone."
Stefan told his brother
"Shut up Stefan, you don't know what you are talking about."
Klaus sighed
"I'm sorry, I can't let this go on any longer. Any more and I will lose myself too, I can not bare the image of my brother like this. Damon, he is gone."
"NO."
Damon shouted, throwing a vase across the room.
"He's dead."
"NO."
Damon threw things across the room, smashed anything and everything.
"DAMON, STOP IT PLEASE."
Bonnie shouted, Damon turned tears streaming down his face he didn't care who saw
"I was meant to protect him Bon, I should've saved him. It should've been me."
Bonnie tried to comfort him but it didn't work.
"I'm sorry Damon, we need to move him."
Damon snarled at his brother.
"No one touch him."
"Elijah you can't leave me come on please, come back to me."
Damon started violently shaking his body
"Wake up. Wake up. WAKE UP."
He tried to pump air into his lungs
"GET THE HELL UP ELIJAH. We have too much unfinished business."
Nothing happened. Damon finally realised Elijah was dead.
"No."
He punched his chest, screaming at him to wake up, shaking his body.
"please"
He cried and fell to his knees. Everyone else had tears in their eyes watching his reaction.
"No please please not him, not him. ANYONE BUT HIM. Please give him back to me."
Damon held Elijah his head in his lap. He held him and cried, apologised multiple times. He looked down.
Bonnie POV.
(A/N - guys for the purpose of this story bon is the anchor to the other side, it still exists, you can see people, it's not lonely. And remember as the anchor whatever happens on the other side doesn't happen in the world is well. Even though they can't see the dead only Bonnie
can, when someone passes through Bonnie, she blanks out.)
Everyone was in tears. I mean it's Elijah what did we expect. Damon was on the floor completely destroyed.
"You know for someone who claimed to hate me, he has wrecked total havoc everywhere."
I turn around to see Elijah,
"Oh my god."
I shake my head and laugh slightly,
"I'm ready Bonnie."
He tells me
"There's no way to bring you back?"
I ask, I don't want him to go.
"It's fine, I'll be on the other side."
He said, I shook my head , I can't let him pass through me, once he's on the other side, no.
"Do me a favour, give him a message for me."
He came up to me and whispered a message for Damon in my ear, I felt tears in my eyes hearing it.
"Well Bonnie it was fun while it lasted."
He came and placed his hands on my shoulders
"I'll try to make this as less painful as I can."
And for the first time I didn't feel any physical pain as a supernatural passed through me.
"That was him wasn't it?"
Damon looked up from the ground. I nodded,
"He passed through me, it didn't hurt any of us."
Rebekah was still upset, Klaus took her and went to another room.
"He's really gone?"
Caroline asked, I nodded. Tyler went and hugged her, Matt, Tyler and Caroline stood up
"We really should go."
Matt said, I nodded at him, Ric offered to drop them, Tyler stopped at the door
"Hey man, I'm sorry."
Damon stared straight ahead, this was the first time he unravelled like this infront of everyone, it just makes me think if Klaus' theory is true. Soon everyone left, it was just me and Damon in the living room and Klaus and Rebekah were upstairs. Damon had calmed down but was still upset.
(A/N - so with the new leader there won't be another group to make Damon king because Damon killed her the proper way. The spell was meant for Damon but hit Elijah which is why Elijah died as the power the coven had was powerful enough to kill an original. A witchy loophole, you know how much us tvdu people love them. Just remember witchy loophole ;p)
