Kaneki dropped in terror, tears continuously falling from his eyes. He couldn't believe what his eyes showed him. He couldn't really feel anything else, as if the world was slowing down, everything focused on what he was doing right now.
He gently held the bloody body in his arms, desperately trying in vain to stop the bleeding. Yet he knew the wound was too major. He pushed the hair back, gazing upon her face. Tears splashed on her face, mixing with the blood.
Kaneki wiped his tears. "Touka, Touka. Why, why, why. Why did you leave me?", his voice dropping to a whisper.
Then there was a scratchy noise.
"Touka?"
Touka weakly smiled, barely able to let her fingers touch his face, caressing his cheek. Kaneki gripped her hand tightly, rocking back and forth. "K-Kaneki." Touka saying his name only made everything worse. He promptly started to cry harder. "N-no." He hiccuped. "D-don't talk. Save your b-breath."
"We'll save you. Don't worry."
Touka could only smile at the sky, the breath of her last words gone.
Kaneki barely caught them.
I love you.
